I definitely like this fan. It is quite a large fan 60” width. I install this outside on our covered porch. It puts off quite a bit of wind when on full speed, enough to keep the mosquitoes at bay in the evening. The light is bright enough to light up the entire porch (25 x25). The remote allows you to dim the light and the fan. I did not download the app but I understand if you do you can also use voice commands.

This fan with the simple lines in black just fits with that industrial feel, like the plumbing pipe shelving that I love but don’t have room for – if I had one of those lofts carved out of an old brick manufacturing building reclaimed to residential living, I would have plumbing pipe shelving down a long wall and above those shelves, this fan would fit right in. Okay, it fits into my house fine – it’s n my guest room which is also my craft room. It was not to bad of an installation – I have a handy neighbor that helps me when I do things like this and he’s great at installation. I got this synced up and was pleased to voice control it through Alexa – that is so cool! I have become a smart home advocate because it is nice to be say, sitting at my craft table, sewing a project and realize it’s a bit warm…”Alexa, turn on ceiling fan,” and without stopping what I’m doing, the fan comes on. THAT is the best thing about a smart home – it works for you! And having this smart fan is helping to keep me cool without having to touch anything to do that!

Here’s what you need to know and more about this ceiling fan. It’s not as easy as it was back in my grandparents’ day to choose a fan. Back then they were simple, the idea was just to have an electric motor hanging from a pipe with four wooden blades attached to it, they were usually about forty inches in diameter, one speed that was controlled by a pull chain, no reversing, and almost always with the light fixture which was also controlled by a chain. From those days until just recently hardly anything changed other than that they added multiple speeds that could be controlled remotely. My house isn’t even that old and they put the typical brass and wood fifty buck fans in it.So the first thing I did when I bought my house was to replace all of the fans. I’ve done that in every previous house and for friends and family. I’ve installed so many I could do it in my sleep, so hopefully my comments will be useful.IT’S THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURYMost of the fans I’ve bought in the past ten years have been expensive, I’m talking about in the four hundred to seven hundred dollar range, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go to the local store and buy one for about fifty bucks, yes it’s still possible, although they aren’t very well made. Most of the ones I got recently have plastic blades and personally I believe that’s the biggest improvement. While you can get very expensive ones with shaped wood blades that look like boat oars that also means the blades are heavy and balancing them can be a nightmare. Molded plastic blades can be made to move unheard of amounts of air but run at low energy efficient speeds and have the plus that they are very quiet in operation. This one has non-adjustable blades that were perfectly balanced at all speeds. Also unlike fans of yore the motor on this one is about the size of a grapefruit and the shell is plastic. It’s very lightweight and almost totally silent at every speed. I would say DC motors are the second quantum leap, they run silent and cool and many like this one have a lot more than the usual three speeds (this one has ten) and reversal from the remote control which is extremely nice if you fan is mounted up high.SHEDDING SOME LIGHTRemember that this is an indoor/outdoor fan. I have never seen one of those that looks good, until I saw this one. Used in an indoor room like I have it is very sleek and modern and minimalistic. The one thing that you might not care for if you are a very picky designer is the molded on light fixture. It is modern but I would call it more steampunk or even barnlike. I like it but some people may not. What I do love is that it can be dimmed continuously from blindingly bright the vary dim (subject to the capabilities of a LED bulb) and that you can change colors from a daylight look to a warm incandescent look to the very popular skin flattering soft pink look.THINGS YOU HAVE TO KNOWInstallation is easy primarily due to the light weight of the fixture. It was a one-person job that took about an hour which includes removing the old unit. Know that for all of its modern design this unit still uses the very dated and cumbersome remote control sensor that is a big rectangular brick that needs to be stuffed into the small round canopy. These remotes have been rectangular and canopies round since as long as I can remember, don’t you think by not someone would have invented a round remote sensor that fits round canopies? On the plus side these people also included a good quality screwdriver with the kit, if you are a DIY’er there’s literally nothing you have to buy.ONE OF MY BIGGEST FANSAlso know that this is a 60 inch fan and may not fit if you have sloped ceilings. Be sure to do your homework before buying. But otherwise being that large is a good thing, in fact an excellent thing. The larger the diameter the more air will be moved and the slower the fan will have to turn to move it. There are charts online coving all this. This fan moves a lot of air even at slower speeds and when turned up full it is like a turbojet prop engine, seriously I think it could fly an airplane with this thing.YES OR NOI’m impressed with this product, especially at the hundred buck off sale price they’ve been running. It is well made, works as expected, no surprises during installation.

Very well made with solid parts. Easy to assemble and install. Just propped it on another ladder until I had all the wires attached, then had my son hold it to the ceiling until I attached it to the mount. Remote controls fan speed, light and turns it on and off. Looks amazing in my living room and is a great price too. Highly Recommend this fan.
