Segal History
The original Segal lock was developed in 1912 by Samuel Segal, a New York City Police Officer who saw a need to protect residents from thieves “Jimmying” or spreading the door frame to gain entry. The lock was quickly accepted as the best way to secure a door against unauthorized entry due to physical attack.
Samuel Segal was featured in the Locksmith Ledger in May of 1955 for his innovations and contributions to the locksmith industry.
The Same quality standards set by Samuel Segal years ago are still present in our products today.

This product is a steal considering the ridiculous price of other mortise locks. I had to replace an old mortise that had gone bad and this one worked perfectly. The instructions are easy to understand and they give you extra parts. I genuinely don’t believe many of the bad reviews as they almost swayed me from getting this, this is incredibly sturdy and high quality. Well worth your buy

Easy to install into existing space on my front door. Seems to be very high quality, heavy duty, and the parts move very smoothly. Overall, I am very happy with this, particularly given that mortice locks are not that easy to find. Good price too.

Excellent value and quality for the money. Fit almost perfectly, needed 5 minutes of fitting. Highly recommended.

I got my apt 3 years ago. My building’s built in 1929 and the lock on my apt door seemed to be original. It worked well and I didn’t bother to replace it until my building staff locked me inside my apt from the outside. I didn’t notice my lock’s actually missing a thumbturn until this incident happened. Finding a replacement thumbturn that matched a 100 years old lock isn’t easy. Finding a new mortise lockset that fit the existing cutout on my door is also very tough. I’ve spent hours to research and decided to give this Segal lock a try because it shows clear dimensions on a diagram online. Surprisingly, even to my locksmith, this Segal lock fit almost perfectly well to the existing cutout of my door. The only adjustment that needed to be made was to cut the hole on the strike plate a bit bigger. The quality of this Segal lock seemed well built. It’s heavy and solid. It also operated (locked/unlocked) smoothly.

love this handle and lock, I especially like the feature that always you to lock it from the inside so that you don’t have to use your key to lock it on the outside.

My stepfather didn’t think I’d be able to find this log let alone it would be so inexpensive. I installed it the very next day I received it from Amazon. Everything went together as instructed except for having to chisel out just a small area inside the door where the old Lock was.
