We have a retractable screen door. It has a frame on both sides for sturdiness. However, to make these screens retractable, the bottom and top just loosely slide in a track. If you push, even gently, at the bottom, something small, like a kitten or determined cat can squeeze through. This adjustable screen fits perfectly in between our solid door and the screen door, tight to the floor. Cats can’t escape. The gate is light weight and thin enough that we can leave it in place and close the solid door, leaving the gate in place between the two doors. Made of pretty bamboo wood and black plastic.

I really hate the fact that I even have to use a gate, but I have a one year old and he likes to go into the kitchen which has our dogs food bowls on the floor, and other things I don’t want him touching, let alone the stove and other appliances. So ima start by saying this gate is so beautiful and that’s really what attracted me to it. Usually baby gates are ugly plastic bulky things that are just an eye sore. This particular gate looks modern and has a unique design to it. So that’s the first thing I loved about it. Second thing I love about this gate is HOW EASY IT IS TO INSTALL white still being VERY STURDY! (And I’ve tested it with my own weight to get it to budge, and it didn’t) so it passed the test of looks, and sturdiness. If that makes sense. I have had a bad experience from drilling holes in my wall trying to install a baby gate that didn’t even feel sturdy enough for my crazy 1 year old. I also love that It isn’t permanent, which means I use it in my kitchen, living room and bedroom, depending on what I’m doing but need my son to not go too far. LOVE it! Needless to say, this was a GREAT BUY, and if I needed another gate, I’d buy this particular one AGAIN! Thank you! Hope this helps!

Best simple tension baby gate I’ve ever seen. The bamboo is really sturdy, there is no flex at all with the wood. The plastic screen is thick and strong. The arm and metal clip parts are so sturdy, I have to really press it down to get in place. I don’t mind that. It’s a great gate. I’ve only tripped over it once swinging my leg over and catching it with my toe. The gate stayed in place though! I bought this to keep my baby out of the hallway that leads to our stairs. Works great for him. I also have 2 large dogs (85lb and 60 lb) they both paw at it when they want out and neither one has knocked it out of place.

I am in the process of introducing a new doggie to my cats. Three of these gates were perfect to create a safe and sturdy barrier that also allows sniffs and sounds between them and her.

This is a great gate. We bought it to keep our dogs in the kitchen. I like the small circular openings vs open wire design of my old gate. Its harder for the puppy to stick his paw through. The only draw back is its VERY DIFFICULT to lift up the metal catch attached to the wooden bar. I’m assuming for safety the manufacturer has designed it to be more molded around the wood making a more secure lock. It’s nearly impossible for me to open. It took several tries and a pinched finger. The gate is for sure in place. I won’t be moving it anytime soon!

We use this to block off rooms and hallways from our 18mo son. We have found that it is very easy to use. You will see that different locations in your house may use slightly different notch settings. I just marked my notches with different colors so I can quickly setup the gate at different locations. Will be interesting to see how it holds up when our son gets older. It is just short enough for an adult to step over it without having to take it down. Also, you would obviously want to keep the side with the latch on the opposite side from the children as fingers could easily get pinched if they had access to the pressure bar.

Keeping kitty away from the stairs. There is a learning curve to setting this gate up, but once you do, it’s very secure. Find the approximate width you need, open gate to that amount, then RAISE the notched locking bar. Put in place, lower locking bar, snap metal retainer, done. I’ve marked the correct notch with a pencil, so if the locking bar happens to slide, you know where to return it to. Recommended.

First of all I have to say that I have had many different baby gates over the years between my 3 kids, my several puppies and grown dogs and my granddaughter. This bamboo gate is the easiest and strongest and best gate I have ever used – better than the metal ones, better than the ones that open with a door, better than the one-handed plastic ones… better than all of them. Why? Because it’s light in weight, but strong. It is easy to set up and once you have it sized properly for the doorway, it goes up and comes down in seconds. It really isn’t a problem to take it down and put it back and I do it many times a day. Since it’s so light weight, you can take it down with one hand and put it back with one hand. But its strong enough to hold a 2 year old back – even a rambunctious 2 year old that runs right into it and shakes it and leans on it. BUT you have to make sure you have it installed correctly, which means you have to open it a little further than you think you need to and make sure that the center bar that locks down needs force to push it into place – in other words, the gate needs to be really really tightly fitted into the doorway to hold it’s place. Don’t worry about breaking it – the bamboo is strong and flexible. Just make sure that the gate is installed tighter than you think you need, and you’ll have it correctly installed. After a while it gets a little easier to push down and lock the center bar. Worth every cent. I liked it so much I bought one for my daughter who sometimes needs to barricade her dogs in her kitchen area.

It works great. Not as hard to use as some people say. It’s just learning how the hinges and slots work. Played with it and figured it out pretty quick. Seriously. Just put the metal rod down in a slot and pull the lever up and down and you’ll get it. I’m about to order a third one right now. This thing’s handy with the human and fur babies. Locking is pretty tight though. If you have arthritis or bad hands, this is jot for you. The metal clip requires you to force the lever out or you can easily spread the clip with your fingers and it’ll unclip easier. Need sturdy fingers.
