10 reviews for Ryobi P411 One+ 18 Volt 5 Inch Cordless Battery Operated Random Orbit Power Sander (Battery Not Included / Power Tool Only)

  1. Mr&Mrs.Douche nugget

I cannot tell you how much more convenient it is when doing smaller projects, for example my daughters desk, my wife’s game chair. for larger projects such as a 6ft x 3.5ft x 10in bookshelf it wasn’t too bad i had to keep changing batteries but i have 3 so it was nothing. if you only have 2 batteries you WILL face downtime while waiting 30-45mins for a battery to charge. all in all it is amazing to just grab and go no extension cords or air lines, power from the tool was acceptable. i had my bookshelf sanded with 60 then 80 then 120grit in about 1.5 hours maybe 2. i even redid my headlights with these, start with 800 wet, got to 1000 then 2000 then 3000 and make sure to use a foam backer for that though. ok well this turned into a novel. be safe, and may the force be with you

  2. Nelson

I really like having the convenience of a wireless, battery powered sander, because I invariably need it to do a job that requires some maneuvering, across the yard, or behind the house. Being able to just grab the sander and do a job without worrying about finding a close enough plug and extension cord is wonderful.I’ve already put about 20 hours on it in a very short time. I’ve even been using it with buffing pads to polish and wax my car. The results are amazing. I would absolutely recommend this as a buffer, with 5 or 6 inch felt backed buff pads.It does chew through batteries pretty fast. My original 1.5 Ah battery last only about half an hour, but I have a 5.0Ah aftermarket battery that goes for about 3 hours of consistent use. It’s probably not as powerful as a higher amp or wired sander, but for small jobs, its the best of all options.

  3. Tatarin

Went through 4 charges on the 3 AH batteries with 180 grit sand paper to prep the whole car for paint. Happy with the purchase!I attached the end of the sander to the vacuum to clean it out after the bag got full.I was surprised by how much dust the bag caught.

  4. Thomas Degroat

Batteries last fine, but if you have multiple ryobi tools you most like have multiple batteries anyway. Sands evenly with multiple grits and does a decent job of dust collection. Best of all is no cord continually getting in the way!I did a 3’x6’ teak island counter top (used for a custom desk) and came out glass smooth.

  5. Electronics Engineer

Works great. Battery life on the small batteries is very adequate and unit is light weight. The big battery last forever but can be heavy on other than horizontal surfaces. Very nice tool

  6. Lira

This is a light weight power toy. I plan to give this to my 5 year old nephew as one of his first actual tools. Not enough power to really hurt him or anyone else and battery runs out in ten mins anyway. After I got around to using it for the first time I ran thru three batteries in an hour and ordered a corded version of the same tool in yellow. It works way better doesn’t die after ten mins and doesn’t leave swirly marks on the wood.

  7. Daniel P. Marino

Bought this to sand down large spackled section of drywall wall, and refinish some old wood furniture. Works as expected. I’ve used this multiple times totaling several hours of operation and does what I need. I’ve never used another sander so I cannot speak to the difference in size or weight versus others. What I can say is it was not taxing to use. Battery lasts about 30 mins for my regular battery and my higher capacity battery runs over an hour.

  8. mikefoss

Worked very well on sanding a deck. A pretty bad deck too. Already had 2 batteries so just kept rotating power. Much better at catching dust than my corded sander…by the way…I gave that one away.

  9. kaysa

Works really well, and the dust collector does pick up most of the dust. As other reviewers have noted, battery lasts maybe ten minutes tops, if fully charged. But the versatility is worth it.

  10. Harisston Turk

This has worked exactly expected, it is an orbital sander so you cant push hard on the center but you can use it on a slight angle if you dont push to hard and it wont hurt most wood. I have regular batteries that are about 2 years old and they last about 10-15 mins each, so not great for a huge project but that’s not what I wanted it for. Overall it does what expected so cant take a star away.
