10 reviews for Ryobi One P505 18V Lithium Ion Cordless 5 1/2″ 4,700 RPM Circular Saw (Battery Not Included, Power Tool Only), Green

  1. PL36

I needed a cordless saw to make simple cuts in difficult places. This one does the job quite well. Anyone who expects a battery-operated rotary saw to cut all day long is wishful thinking. None of them will replace a corded model for significant projects, but this model will handle awkward or short tasks just fine. I can’t speak to the accuracy of the laser guide since I don’t rely upon that feature.

  2. Devin

Love the pistol grip on this saw and over-molded handle for two-handed operation. Everything on this saw is so perfectly positioned. I never feel like I am taking on more than I can handle with this saw. I have been able to find all sorts of blades for this baby circular saw without issue — that includes the C7 Bad Blade, the Diablo, a 100T plastic cutting blade, plywood blades, and more. Just make sure you get 10mm arbor blades in 5.5″ size or smaller and you’re golden. Would definitely buy again, and really like the smaller size. I have not had a need to go larger once getting this saw.

I really like the convenience of this little saw. I do numerous “projects” around the home and often need to make a couple of simple quick cuts, without hauling out my chop saw, table saw, or electric hand saw. Previously I would get out my old reliable manual hand saw, but with this tool on the shelf, my manual saw will sit in the drawer. Pull this off the shelf, slap a battery on and it’s ready to go. Be advised that the picture is of a right handed version, and this model is left handed. Being left handed, I really like that, although it was unexpected. I’ve had to adjust to power saws being right handed all my life, so like that Ryobi actually made a model for us lefties, but if you’re right handed and never had to accommodate, you might feel awkward using this model.

I bought this saw for a daughter who already had the batteries and charger. I used it last night to cut some 1×4 wood and it worked well. There’s few more plastic parts on the current model versus the older ones, but I think it will hold up under normal use. These saws tend to use up a battery fairly quickly, especially when cutting 2×4’s. I paid $31, so it wasa good deal

It is very important to understand that this saw is left handed. It doesn’t mean a left handed person can only use it. On the contrary, it is particulalrly good for right handed people because you can clearly see the blade position. It is very easy to align the blade with the line along which you need to cut. You get quite presize cuts. Absolutely no need to any alighnment tools like Kreg’s triangular for instance. You d cut much better if you watch with your own eyes.It is light enough especially when you use a small battery of 2.5. You hands wont shake when you cut long lines.I was using it to build garden furniture cutting 1″ boards – works just fine.

Being a contractor, Ive been converting to battery powered tools. I got stuck with Milwaukee, so kinda stayed with their line of tools. Not any more. All they’re good for are their M18 line of fuel batteries.I lugged around their circular saw for a few months. Then borrowed a clients Ryobi. How can similar tools be so universally different. There’s no comparison. Ryobi is so far ahead. This little circular saw with us wee like blade cuts circles around Milwaukee. And some.I can’t believe how fast, easy, light, precise, quiet, perfect this little circular saw is. And it cuts thru anything.I was installing butcher block kitchen counter top for a customer. It needed to be perfect.Got out my Milwaukee.6 inches in, it slowed and started having issues.Grabbed the Ryobi out of desperation.Hadn’t tested it yet, so was unsure.Huh, it breezed thru the butcher’s block like butter, and wanted more. The only hiccup is it’s saw protector keeps getting in the way. But with a Milwaukee M18 fuel cell, unstoppable. One fifth the price too.

Originally was a bit put off to order due to reading a few other reviews that stated it was a “left handed” saw …being right handed myself. This only makes it so much easier to follow lines and cut by being able watch and guide without having to look over the saw which would be the case if the blade were on the right side. Also purchased a fine tooth finish blade …my primary use was to cut trim and plywood type items for a remodel job..we all reach for this saw anytime a quick accurate cut is needed. Door trimming easy. Great addition to the home tool box.

  8. Sea Jay

Had an older Ryobi, found I couldn’t cut straight, thought it was my lousy skills until I realized the old one had worn out. Got this new model and voila, professional quality compared to prior work. Great to fit with Ryobi system coupled with cheap Amazon knockoff Ryobi lithium ion batteries. Great system with other Ryobi tools including tire inflator for $25. Go Ryobi…

  9. Solerider

I bought this saw to use for little jobs….Where I don’t want to drag my bigger circular saw out of the cabinet…it’s case….get the extension cord….we’ll, you get it. This will barely cut a 2×4..(1 3/4 max. width…I think)….so be aware. And….to be able to use this, for any length of time….or any thickness of the wood….you’re gonna need a 3.0 or bigger battery. A 1.5 ain’t gonna cut it (pun intended)…. Not enough power. But, for what it is….it works well.

I’ve only used it a couple of times, but I’m very pleased. No cord to deal with, very lightweight, even with the battery installed, cut through the plywood with no effort. I’m getting ready to replace floors in a couple of rooms so it will really be put to the test. I hope I’m just as pleased.
