Bought this for doing some hardwood floors in our house in Colorado. Is worked very well. You can see you’re my review for a cheaper product that purchased for Montana house which I do not recommend, Von Haus. This product is almost twice as much but it’s worth the extra price. I gave it to stars for lightweight because it’s not supposed to be lightweight for this type application so that’s not really a negative.

I used this kit to install 1200 square feet of various Pergo laminate flooring. Depending on your new flooring, the pull bar may need additional cushioning. I wore the pads out getting into tight spaces under heaters, then supplemented with a soft rag between the bar and new floor surface to prevent scratching. The pull bar is design to take the beating of the included mallet, but not much more. I actually bent mine using a large standard hammer, then had to beat it back into position. Stick to the mallet.

Believe me, when you are installing locking vinyl flooring the tapping block and the steel pull bar are a necessity. The spacers are useless because they keep falling over. To get a tight joint with no visible seams these tools do the job. Some of the planks I installed needed hit pretty hard to close the gaps and to use a scrap piece of flooring just won’t last. There is a groove in the block that fits the tongue perfectly and is much faster than locking and unlocking a scrap piece of flooring. The pull bar worked great when you are on the last piece of floor against the wall or under door jambs. Also the hammer included is great for tapping down the end seams for a perfect lock.

The product worked as describe. The plastic tapper work very well, much better than a piece of the flooring I have seen being used on YouTube. The metal tapper would occasionally chip the floor, but I used a small cloth between the floor and bar to prevent this. The hammer worked great.

I installed bamboo floating floors without having this set and started on the EVP/SVP vinyl floors before getting it. This set is super. Unlike other sets the metal bar has a reinforced corner so it stands up to repeated and hard hits. I did not want to use this tapping block with the vinyl planks and instead opted to use a plastic tapping block I purchased previously. Will save you tons of time and headache!

Great kit, definitely best bang for the buck. If I bought each item from Lowes/Home Depot, it would’ve cost me more than here at Amazon. It had all the items I needed to help me lay down laminate flooring in my Den. Plenty of spacers for long planks, nice sized tapping block and right sized mallet with a nice grip. I really like the padding on the pull bar that prevents your planks from getting scratched while in use (unlike the ones I saw at the big box stores that didn’t have that nice little touch). Made my install easier and efficient. I would also recommend purchasing some knee pads and gloves to make it all complete. Makes for a faster, efficient install.

The spacer are pretty sturdy it doesnt move when used correctly the metal pusher is really strong it didnt bend it help us push multiple hard laminate from costco to the right place while installing and pushing laminate to have the right spacing. the hammer has two sides that help us a lot the soft side or rubber side we used a lot directly to laminate and it did not scratch or peel the the laminate and the hard plastic side that must be use on the metal pusher to move laminate

There are a lot of these sets but I settled on this one for the reviews, price, and amount of spacers. Even with the amount they give you, you will want more spacers. But that’s not a fault of this product as it already has a lot more than the comparable products. This set has a two-sided mallet – I found the yellow metal side ideal for hammering boards on the long groove side together and the rubber ideal for hammering boards on the short end into each other. The spacers are in two pieces like a wedge and you do have to put two of them together to get the proper edge spacing you need for installing a laminate floor like Pergo. This set also comes with a small pry bar with a long and short edge. This worked great when reaching the end of the row to seat all the floor boards into each other tightly. Just slip the shorter edge against the wall on either side and hammer it from both sides to ensure they are connected. The tapping block worked amazingly well but you do have to be careful that the block is always flat on the floor so the groove of your plank is within the groove on the block so as not to damage it. A few times I caught it not seated which caused me to break the groove on a board and render it unusable.I would recommend you have a weightier mallet to use for hammering boards down to lock them in place however, as I feel like trying to do that with this mallet would be near impossible. As far as durability – I had no problems with the mallet coming apart as some reviews mentioned. At the end of the project, flooring a 300 sq. ft. room, at maybe about 5’x5′ or so left, the tapping block was really significantly damaged but still looked like it would survive for another project. There is a sticker with the company name on it which had come off almost completely, and there were some serious bending and dents in the side where I was hammering it from, but the groove edge was fine.Overall a set like this is a necessity for installing laminate flooring. I think this set was high quality for not being high price. I wish it came with more spacers but like I mentioned the amount it comes with is already more than most of the others do. Thank you for a great product!

I laid vinyl plank flooring in my daughter’s bedroom without using this about a year ago. Things are shifting in there where I didn’t get the right seal between the boards. I bought this and have laid plank flooring in 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 3 hallways and it made the process so much easier. The planks are able to lock tighter than they did without using it. The pull bar is extremely useful when you are working on an area next to the wall. I struggled to get those pieces in tight and had to use make shift tools to get the job done. I was so frustrated with it all until I had the pull bar. It made that tedious part of the job so much easier and faster. I have already recommended this product to my friends for when they lay their flooring.

I wkuld not attempt to lay this floating bamboo without this tool. This plastic block has made all the difference. It is groved out on the bottom on two side to match up with the click-n-lock wood flooring. I used it on a tongue-n-groove wood floor too. This flooring is just under a half inch thick, so hitting a block of scrap to tighten the floor planks would have busted up a lot of scrap, and took a lot more time to make more. I didn’t use the hammer long, as I pulled out the framing estwing to get a better push. If I lost this block, I’d be buying another.
