10 reviews for PORTER-CABLE 20V MAX Cordless Drill Combo Kit, Brushless, 2-Tool (PCCK619L2)

This was my first romp in the brushless field of power tools. I did my research and this combo is one of the highest recommended. I like Dewalt a lot, but I also like Porter Cable. Both companies have their quality control issues, but this drill combo is doing well with lots of use already! The battery tech here isn’t the cutting edge stuff we’re seeing from Dewalt and Milwaukee and others, but it’s a far cry better than my old Makita 18V combo that’s 12-13 years’ old. This is my first brushless tool set and first 20V set, so the upgrade has been beyond noticeable. It’s changed how I work!I highly recommend this combo. The tools are tough; the ergonomics are superb; they’re lightweight, powerful, and the battery life is excellent; the light is perfectly located on each drill; and the battery life indicator button and bit holder round out the convenience features. Get them. They’re great.

this is a nice item….i’ve never owned a brushless motor tool before and both these drills are only about 2/3 the size and weight of the last cordless drill set i bought…they seem tiny compared to what i’ve been using all these years…..the lithium battery is about half the size and weight of the previous nicad battery sets i bought…so its quite an eye opener.i didn’t need a carrying case so i saved money with this caseless option…and i opted for one battery only since i don’t use the items enough to need two and lithium batteries carry a big charge….so this was a nice option also.i used the impact driver to drive several 5 inch long 3/8 lag screws into some solid 6 inch timber bolsters by an old stationary engine the other day…..WOW….i have never used an impact driver before and these lag screws just turned into the wood with a minimum of hand/wrist effort…no pilot hole, nothing…..i shudder to think of the struggle driving these bolts in by hand with a standard wrench.

I purchased this brushless set because i added another person to my remodeling business. I already own another two sets of older 20v Porter Cable drills (one of them is rhe hammer drill). I’ve been using this brand since the 20v first came out and i love them. I use them daily and so my helpers. So far, they have not let me down. I will continue to buy them because the price is just right and they are of excellent quality. I already own several other Porter Cable tools and i wanted to ensure that all the batteries were compatible.I have one complain about this specific brushless set: they don’t have the two magnetic strips on top like my older models. That’s a big let down for me. They now have a clip to place your bits. With the magnetic strips, i was able to easily place my bits and/or extra screws on it. And, the magnet was strong….

I got this combo kit even though I only needed the impact driver because the combo pack was such a great deal, and why not go brushless on my normal drill while I’m at it..I’ve used them a fair bit, and I have no complaints, but I do have a couple of suggestions for Porter-Cable if they’re listening. 1) You should make a combo kit like this, but with a brushless hammer drill and an impact driver. That way all of your drill needs can be covered with one combo kit. 2) It’s nice that you’ve got the bit-holding clips on there, but I need more than two bits (one in the chuck and one in the clip). I see that some of your drills have had magnetic bit holders higher up. I think those should be on every drill/driver you make, and maybe they should even be a little bit better (like a hole you drop the bit into with a magnet at the bottom to hold it in place). I’m thankful that the clips that you have are on there, but especially for short bits, it’s very difficult to pop the bits in and out of the clip.. I usually have to use the other bit I’m taking out of the tool to pry the one I need out of the clip. That said, for the money, it’s a fantastic deal. They’re not DeWalt or some other higher-end brand but they are good solid tools, and you only pay a fraction of the price.

Have only had these for a couple of weeks.. THEY ARE A BEAST!!!!! I had the brushed ones prior and loved them.. The brushless sound a bit different, but work just as hard. I have used other brands periodically, but nothing has compared to Porter Cable. I was on a job building a deck with two other contractors. One had a Dewalt Impact, the other a Craftsman. It didn’t take but a few 3″ screws before Dewalt boy `grabbed mine, then the other followed suite/ Both batteries made it through the day. If your looking for tough and strong, Buy the Porter Cable.. If your looking for pretty and week, Then don’t!

If you have been buying the Yellow tool company’s brand of tools (DeW.), you may want to consider the brushless Porter Cable version. These are made by the same company as the Yellow tools and are VERY similar. The only difference I could see is that the Yellow tool has a metal nose piece on the impact and drill, and an all metal chuck on the drill. Maybe paying about twice as much, and the jobsite status of Yellow tools, is important to you. I found these to work flawlessly on the commercial jobsites I work on. My tools have been dropped off ladders, used as hammers and generally abused. This is my second set in 4 years, as my previous company paid for the last set and I had to return them when I quit.I don’t buy junk; Snap-On, Xcelite, Klein, Wiha, fill my tool bags. These are quality.Being brushless, the batteries last a long time between charges, too.

Am I the only one (and 2 others) that sees this! 2 Piece Porter Cable BRUSHLESScombo pack with the High Power Batteries and charger for about $130. That is whatyou have to pay for 2 batteries and the charger alone! These came out last Novemberand they are cheaper than the old brush models. When Bosh came out with theirs itwas $700 and still is $400 on sale. For those not familiar with Brushless they have alife expectancy of over 10,000 hours as well as 2X the battery life and more torque! The only real difference between this, PCCK619L2 and the PCCK602L2 is that thePCCK619L2 has the newer impact driver PCCK647 as opposed to the PCC640 andthe PCCK602L2 goes for almost $50 more. What? Oh ya the PCCK602L2 comeswith the the little red bag and a couple of screw bits.As for the tools themselves, they are beasts! The impact driver has 1,495 in-lbs oftorque (125 ft-lbs). The drill has a 1/2 inch chuck instead of the usual 3/8. Also thedrill has a new 1 click quick lock setting for drilling as well as the usual 22 variable. No more having to click through all the variable settings to get to the lock, just oneclick for drilling while the variable settings stay as they were. I find that real handy! Both have a nice bright LED that stays on for 20 sec after you release the trigger. As stated earlier, both have the larger capacity battery, 1.5 amp-hr as opposed tothe standard 1.3.If there is any down side, it is they might be too powerful. That is why I kept my oldRockwell 18 volt combo kit for the light work. As best I can tell this is probably thebest deal going for a 20V Brushless Combo kit. That’s my story and I’m sticking toit. 🙂

The media could not be loaded.  Just got these and they seem very powerful and lite. The torque is great. I would place them above dewalt at about the makita or Milwaukee level. The battery life seems great so far and I like that it shares the same battery as my porter cable 18g nailer which is one of my all time favorite tools. I would certainly buy these again especially for this price. The brushless is worth the extra money.

  9. Kindle Customer

Wonderful drill/driver set. I had a Ryobi set and these are much better. The LED light at the base works great to see what you are drilling or driving. This set comes with slightly greater amp batteries than the set Lowes commonly sells.

  10. Adam Freed

So I’ve been bouncing around between several brands not being much of a cordless fan. Out of all the drill motor sets I’ve been through this is the most delightful combo to date. Comes with two of the smaller max batteries. Voltage reader to know current charge before you scale any ladders. Hanger clips to set off of belt or equipment. Impressive torque and clutching. Long battery life. Compact and flickable. The rubber impregs in the handle are a little softer composition then older models and other brands which feels tackier in gloved hands which helps with single hand gripping in overhang situations. Very pleased and looking forward to other accessories updating to similar build. And the new led light position off of the battery to light where you’re drilling is much more effective then off the trigger.
