Great for marking dovetails. Good construction. Instructions for use can be found on YouTube. Good luck.

The jig is super easy to use. Professional and layman alike. Feel free to buy one if you are interested in dovetailing. I needed one to help me along the way of understanding how to mark and cut the angles needed. I’m getting better because it did make marking easier.

  3. Amazon Customer

At first it confused me because when practicing dove tails i would draw up to the cut end and with this you mark the”negative” tails to be cut on one board, and the “postive” tails on the other. It’s a pretty simple pretty cool jig for not much money. Feels pretty heavy and the tab that rests on the board is true.

  4. Oregor

This is a strong piece of aluminum well marked and provides consistent dovetails. I am very pleased with my purchase. I have not had a chance to use this in a project yet. I have tested it on some scrap wood. It is easy to hold and control.

  5. Dan Jenkins

When I first got it I thought oh no! There I go again impulse buying. LOL. But actually is very nice. I’ve used it two times for two different dovetail projects. It’s very light. Very easy to use. And very well-made. I recommend it for any woodwork are cutting dovetails.

  6. DeepBlue

I have used a Rockler and a Porter Cable (best) with a few of my electric routers. I finally got up the nerve to start cutting some dovetails with a couple of my Japanese saws, laying out the angles with a sliding bevels, following various woodworking gurus I always learn from.I love this Newkiton Dovetail Marker and it’s description of offering different ratios is accurate. I have gotten good at using chisels to cut out the the wood between tales and pins, and do not use a coping saw. The problem I have is learning to cut straight and cleanly with my hand saw. There are a couple jigs that will guide the saw, I may try one down the road, for now, I can skip the sliding bevel which I find distracting. I pick up this little light weight tool, mark my layouts and I am immediately ready for working with my hand saw. It’s fun, but I am still learning. This tool helps me.

Haven’t used yet but appears to be well constructed. I don’t anticipate any issues.

  10. Red Stick

This handy little tool gives you 4 options so far as angles. It is very easy to use. It seems to be well made. I just got it a couple of days ago and they are already asking for this review. However, I have used a friend’s many times and finally decided to get my own. Hand cut dove tails are fun and not as difficult as some people think. Rob Cosman recently made a video with a few new twists that really work. If you are thinking about getting one of these, go ahead and order it. Not expensive, definitely helpful and should last a long time.

The dovetail guide is well manufactured. It provides additional value by having four dovetail angles; two angles are drawn on the outside of the guide, and two more on the inside — very clever.

  15. Legamin

This is the perfect gift for someone who does woodwork with hand tools. Perfect dove joint every time!
