10 reviews for Minka-Aire F844-WH, Light Wave, 52″ Ceiling Fan, White

  1. Stevo3000

We bought this fan to replace the old ugly brown ceiling fan that every house seems to have. There needs to be more options for fans that don’t look like they’re from 1975, and for modern design fans that don’t cost $600. This is one of those options, and it’s actually great. Really quite, dimming light, blows a lot of air, looks great – perfect.

  2. Father of Six Great Kids

Clean looks and moves air. The dimming function of the light works great. We installed three of them and needed to change the frequency of the remotes to not conflict, but an easy 2 minute process.

  3. crossley

I put this fan in my living room it is a stylish fan the only negative is that it has a low-level hum but it doesn’t bother me I am usually watching tv and can’t hear it until it is completely quiet in the room I also have one in my sunroom now when you turn on one fan the other comes on with either remote but you can move the switch in the receiver and remote to make them work independent of the other

  4. ssaslow

I needed to replace 8 fans that have deteriorated over the years. My criteria was they need to be contemporary, small motor and have LED lighting. I have a bunch of Haiku fans in another location so I am well versed on what a $1000 fan is. While these are definitely not of the quality of the Haiku fans they have a few things in common. They both have very small motors and they are both made of a composite plastic. The big difference is that the Haiku fans use a DC motor and it is virtually silent when on. The Minka is a standard AC fan motor (although very small) that has the typical buzzing sound when in use you would expect with a fan at this price point. This is not an issue for me but may be for others. The build quality on this fan is outstanding, all parts are very well finished and assemble easily. The LED on this fan is bright, very bright and has no trouble illuminating every room I have installed them in. The remote is a typical cheap remote you find in fans at this price but it works very well. The fan installed in about 10 minutes with one person. It is very lightweight and very easy to carry up a ladder alone.Bottom line despite cheap remote, a little buzz from the motor, this fan looks great, has an amazing LED light and installs easily. At this price point there is nothing better in my opinion and for these reasons I give it 5 stars. I am very happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend them.

I have 6 minkas (5 of them the minka-aire light waves) in my house it’s not that hard to program each one to match it’s own remote. The range is 40-50 feet so we have to program them (see steps below)I get compliments from visitors all the time, and they work well for both light and cooling. Two electricians have told me they really like minka-aire. That made me feel better about shelling out over $1000 for the 6 fans.1. Turn off all the minkas (in your case both minka fans). This can be done at either the light switch or circuit breaker. We just turn off all the light switches that power the fans.2. Choose the fan/remote that you want to pair. The instructions tell you to change the “dip stick” settings for the fan. I thought this would be in my ceiling fan, but for my minka-aire light waves, it’s in the REMOTE. Slide the cover on the back of the remote to expose the battery. Just above the battery are 2 black rectangles, each with 4 small switches that can be slid up (on) or down (off) and are labeled 1,2,3,4. These are the dip stick settings. The pattern of the switches need to be different on each of the remotes. So, if it’s fan #1, slide the switch “1” on the 1st rectangle up so that it’s “on”. Leave all the others down. For fan #2, slide switch “2” up, leave all the other switches down, etc. If you have more than 8 fans, you can slide more than 1 switch up at a time (e.g. both switch 1 and switch 2) to create more combinations.3. Turn on the power for that fan at the light switch (or the breaker). Within 60 seconds (without pushing any other buttons), push and hold down the “stop” button on the remote for at least 10 seconds. It’s the round button on the receiver has a picture of a square. It’s the button that usually turns off the fan. In this case, holding it down for 10 seconds will pair the remote with any minka fan which has been switched on (that’s why you turned off all the other fans). When it’s paired, my ceiling fan light blinks on and off. If your ceiling fan doesn’t have a light, I don’t know what happens. If it doesn’t work, I repeat all the steps, but it usually works. If you want one remote for 2 fans in the same room, then just turn on the light switch for both fans before you hold down the stop button for the one remote.4. Turn off the light switch for the fan you just programmed.5. Go to the next fan, change the dipstick settings in the back of the REMOTE to a different pattern from the first fan. Turn the light switch on just for that fan. Push and hold down the “stop” button on the remote for 10 seconds

  6. marthac

Very quiet and simple looking. Blends into the ceiling (we purchased the white one). Liked it so much we bought another for our bedroom. The remote is really handy and well thought out. Pretty easy to install as well. Light is diffused nicely – not super bright. It also dims easily. Moved the air in our room very well in the late summer hot weather. This is a winner!!

  7. JD

We wanted a fan with a modern look and a bright light. This one met our needs perfectly and at a much lower price than some of its similar competitors. It has a slight hum when working, but that is unobtrusive. At high speed, it moves a lot of air. We were so pleased with the first one that we ordered a second. You will not be disappointed.

  8. C. Murphy

We installed this fan in our Master bedroom. It it silent and moves a lot of air. I love the remote and the dimming feature.

  9. Mel

I love this fan so much that I ordered a second one for my bedroom. Love the sleek look, the dimmable light, the remote control….everything about it! I have the silver one and now the white one. One is on a flat ceiling and the other on a slanted ceiling and both work well with exactly what came in the box as far as the extender rods.

  10. nycmom

This fan works wonderfully! The design on the blades are so ergonomic that I find the air is pushed really far (we have ours in a big room). The light is ok, but the best part is the remote. It allows for the fan to be installed on high ceilings, and it makes using the fan and the light really easy.
