  1. OShanthony

OK. I wont waste words with this one. Not the most powerful drill in my collection, but within 4 months it is now the most used drill i have and trust me i have used this bad boy “concrete 1:2:3 mix nothing above that as yet, wood, steel, aluminum, etc”. my only drawback is always the battery i have two (one BL1840B 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 4.0Ah Battery. This one is the better of them and another 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion 3.0Ah Battery (BL1830B), 18V LXT both of which got from amazon). This thing eats battery power but its bad as when its fully charged. My advice is watch the YouTube videos and you will see what i am talking about.

I have purchased several Makita 18v tools for my home so I now have 9 batteries and 3 chargers. I purchased this drill motor so I would now have a second cordless in my tool set. It is a great tool. I like three features: you can check the status of the battery charge (very helpful when starting a project, I like the light which comes on when you use the tool, and I like the various settings for screwing in fasteners. Only downside so far is I tend to bump the forward-reverse button which disengages the tool when using it. Not sure if this is a design flaw or just me getting used to the tool

Little to dislike, Lots to like about this drill. I purchased this as a gift for my son-in-law to use while building his new deck. His 10 year old makita drill had a bad chuck which he has since replaced but was in need of a new one. This new one has a brushless motor so it performs longer between charges. A+++

  4. K

My drill, tip of it, when 3 pieces are closed to touch each other, where the bits go in, there remains a small hole. Is this normal? I am wondering if mine was used/stripped. See the screenshot I added.

  5. Justin Owens

Makita is a great company and this drill is no different. If you want to do better go Milwaukee but this won’t break the bank and is much MUCH better than a Riyobi

  6. Thorjr

This is the first compact drill/driver that I purchased. I am so impressed, but also disappointed that I didn’t buy it sooner. I have to repair a privacy fence frequently because of one of my dogs, and I was having to string an extension cord or two where the damage was so I could make repairs. Hooking up the power drill and putting it away takes about 15 minutes. NO MORE! This sucker can to everything that the power drill did and in 1/4 of the time. It has power to spare. It is so nice to grab the bag and go.

  7. Scales

I’ve worked in two woodshops where the cordless tools were all the Makita 18v system, and knew that if I was going to buy anything for myself it’d be the same. This is a little cheaper than the other Makita drills, and you lose out a little on power and build quality, but not eough to take away a star. If you just need a drill for basic projects, this works perfectly. If you need something with a little more, you’re probably experienced enough already to know exactly what alternatives to buy.

  8. D. Shuey

I had an older Makita CXT 12 volt. The batteries were constantly dying. While it was useful for hanging a picture or two, it didn’t have any ability to do any project work. Found this out when I started redoing a deck. Immediately started weighing options.I ended up buying the Makita LXT X2 blower (what a beast!). Since I had the batteries, decided to stay with Makita and glad I did. This drill has loads of power and the battery lasts and lasts. The size is fantastic too. The only thing it lacks is a magnetic holder on the base for a couple screws or spare but. Even without it, this thing is my new favorite tool!

  9. Dave in Texas

Makita customer service is first rate. Bought this drill in 3Q18 and used extensively. Chuck locked up (likely due to my dropping on slab and it hitting directly on chuck). Bought another but decided to send broken one in to Makita Factory Service Center in Houston. Warranty only required tool. Kept battery and charger. $15 flat rate USPS. GOT REPAIRED DRILL BACK IN TWO DAYS.Now I have two drills and am a very satisfied Makita customer.

good driver drill. there is a lot of things one can do with this guy. it came with one battery, if you are doing bigger jobs, I recommend getting a 2nd battery, which can be charged while you use the 1st battery. FYI: this kit includes the charger. I would say this is best for light to medium heavy jobs. ln the big super heavy jobs>be careful, you can over heat this driver / drill motor. it does help to know the correct tongue and speeds for the job you are doing, for the best life of this drill / driver. each job has a speed, best for it. this machine should last a long time if you take good care of it. be careful working masonry with this, don’t get dust in the drill motor vents. this is not intended for use around a lot of water. be sure to read owners manual. I don’t want anybody to get hurt by miss use.
