I’ve never installed a lighting fixture or worked with electrical wires before, but the included instructions and the manufacturer’s website were well written. I was able to successfully install the fan (solo job), and it’s working well. It’s a little louder than I expected when on the fastest speeed, but otherwise I’m really happy with it. The airflow is significant, and it’s definitely cooling off my room.

As you can see in the attached photo, I mounted this with external wiring since our ceiling didn’t have a pre-existing fixture. Installation instructions were super clear and I was able to install the fan by myself in about an hour (excluding the external wiring). Another handy feature is the remote control comes with a bracket that you can hang right on top of an existing light switch plate ~ pretty snazzy. My only complaint is there is no dimmer function for the lamps, but overall I’m so happy with this unit I’m going to buy two more for the other rooms in our apartment.

First let me say that having lots of experience installing $50-$100 Lowes or Home Depot brand ceiling fans, this Hunter fan’s build quality stands above the others. The way it goes together requires more steps than the cheap models, but it’s all very easy and well-explained in the install guide. I was not planning on using the included remote (left it in the packaging) because I had pre-installed a Z-wave fan controller and Z-wave dimmer in the wall, so I wired this fan up just like any normal fan.The first thing that hit me about this fan, compared to others I have installed, is that this fan is DEAD SILENT. I certainly never considered my other fans to be LOUD, but this one just makes no sound, which is cool. The only issue I ran into, which is pretty minor, is that the 2 “60W” LED bulbs included with the fan are cheap, crappy, and they aren’t dimmable. So when using them, firstly, due to the fact that these are the “old style” LED light bulbs with the opaque plastic base, light only comes out the “top”, so against the frosted white glass dome of the fan, you get two distinct hot spots of light; it’s not very even. Secondly, the bulbs aren’t dimmable, so they would flicker when used with a dimmer. It was easy enough to replace them with fully-glass, dimmable LED bulbs (and now it’s perfect), but I feel like given the price of this fan kit, they could have included better bulbs – and in my case, maybe NOT included the wireless remote kit, so that people like me who aren’t going to use it anyway aren’t forced to pay for it.If this fan was $100 without the remote instead of $150 (with the remote), I’d probably buy a couple more of these and replace the other fans in my house right now.

This fan was what I was looking for. I was worried about the blade length because it was 4″ shorter than the fan it was replacing, but it moves plenty of air. We usually keep it at medium or low. My husband and son installed it and they said it was no big deal. The remote control is a nice feature, but it is NOT easy to hold. It’s rather slippery. The light is okay, not really bright enough in my opinion, but it does the job. Overall a good product and I have no major complaints.

We got 2 of these in different sizes for different rooms. They are awesome. This smaller version looks excellent in our small guest room. It works with many different decorating styles. Highly recommend. The short base is so good. It makes the room feel bigger and the fan is sturdier than the normal fan on a rod. The fan blades have a darker wood and a lighter wood on each side. We have the lighter one installed shown in these pictures.

powerful fan. i loved that the neck/collar of the fan is thick/wide. looks great and perfect functionally. The only thing i didn’t like was that you must have the remote to turn on and off. I wish they would have made a pull cord on the fan to be able to control it in case the remote is lost. This fan is everything we wanted.

  7. Amazon Customer

Love this fan. NO WOBBLE & silent!Hard to find these days. What I didn’t realize is it only has four fan blades instead of five. That doesn’t make a difference to me. I just though it was strange.Sits close enough to ceiling to eliminate the “strobe effect” we were getting w the last fan.

I recently bought a house that had no central ceiling lighting! (Ew!) All the bedrooms were lit with sconce lighting, the really cheap tacky kind where you had to turn the little knob on them to turn the light on and off every time, no light switches and just a outdated ceiling fan with no light. We were living in the dark age and needed a great indoor light and fan with a wireless remote so we didn’t have to hire an election to install light switches and new wiring. We stumbled upon this design, loving the reversible blades, the remote, diming lights, and multiple settings. The set up took about an hour for my boyfriend (21 and not too handy). We’ve had no issues and the fan runs amazing! It’s quiet and sleek. Pictures don’t do it justice. My only small complaint is the lighting is slightly “warm” while I prefer a “cool” light. We switched the bulbs but the thick glass dome dulls the lighting. Otherwise still great!

I purchased the Hunter Dempsey 44” low profile ceiling fan with remote to replace a 30yr old fan of unknown origin in our master bedroom that should’ve been replaced years ago. When the pull chain would no longer turn the light off (the primary reason the new fan had to have a remote) and the motor made an annoying noise akin to a dripping faucet, I started researching new fans across many websites and the Hunter brand stood out with the overwhelming number of 5 star reviews and the frequent comments attesting to Hunter’s build quality.Upon unpacking my new fan and examining the all of it’s components, the quality of materials, design, an assembly, I’d say those reviews were justified. Installation was straightforward since this was simply the replacement of an existing fan. A word of caution: you will need to follow the illustrated instructions since assembly of some components is not very intuitive. Follow the numbered steps in order and you shouldn’t have a problem as long as your home has an existing ceiling fan hanger bar. Two steps in the assembly gave me cause for concern: 1. The placement of the blue remote receiver unit inside the “canopy’ (see image). Yeah, you just lay it in there on it’s side, not vertically. No clips or attachment points. 2. Connecting two white wires from the receiver to your existing white wire from the ceiling (again see image). There are actually 3 white wires out of the receiver and that third wire is the antenna and has a small, almost unnoticeable sheath over its end; leave that wire alone! Hunter should have cautioned folks not to mess with that and the folks that did are probably the reviewers complaining that the remote doesn’t work. The remote works perfectly and kudos to the engineer who designed the remote’s holster that mounts atop your home’s light switch plate. Leave the remote in the holster to activate the light and control the fan during the day and simply lift the remote out of the holster and lay it on your nightstand at bedtime.Ingenious.
