10 reviews for Hunter Dempsey Indoor Low Profile Ceiling Fan with LED Light and Remote Control, 44 Inch , White

  1. Review Man

Have had these for a few weeks now in two small bedrooms (44 inch). They function perfectly and look great. It’s a sleek design. They respond every time to the remote control even from two rooms away. Pretty much silent operation. The LED lights are nice and bright and you can dim them with the remote. If the dimming function at first doesn’t work do the following (as told by Hunter customer service):* Turn the wall switch leading to the unit off and then on again.* Hold the “0” button down in the center of the remote.* Press the Light button twice.* The blue light on the remote will flash and then after that you can dim the light by holding the Light button down.Note that the blades are pretty narrow and they don’t move a lot of air. The lowest level can barely be felt right underneath though the higher levels are fine. If you have a larger room you’ll definitely want a larger fan and maybe also one with wider fan blades.

This is a great little low profile fan. It was surprisingly easy to assemble and it works great. The two standard screw in led bulbs light up the room well and the fan operation is near silent. The only thing I hear is the air moving when on hi speed; on low speed I don’t hear a thing. I would definitely recommend this fan.

  3. Mike Whitmer

It is very difficult to find a low-profile ceiling fan that is really “low-profile.” We measured many that made the claim but this one fit the best for our circumstances. The controls are easy to use (though I’m not sure I like putting the remote on the light switch). We have found the fan on ‘low’ to be just perfect for moving air in the upstairs bedroom, without making things too cold. The installation was easy (if you have a modicum of experience with electrical) and the final result was mounted solidly on the ceiling. Overall, this was a perfect choice for our needs.

TL;DR versionThis is one of the best looking and operating fan on the market. I thought mine had failed but turned out I just needed to re-sync the remote to the receiver.FULL versionI bought 2 of these 6 months ago. They are beautiful, modern, sleek and very very quite. They look very nice. The instructions and parts included are ample enough to follow and install the fan. There are no manual controls so you are solely dependent on a remote control and the remote receiver working. Which makes choosing this fan on the risky side of things if you are not someone who is ok with replacing parts down the road. The only risk is this fan has no option for a manual switch, you are 100% dependent on this remote / receiver combo working.Fast forward 5 months. One of my 2 ceiling fans completely stopped working a month ago. Which means I cannot turn on the light or fan. I imagine I just have to buy a remote control receiver combo(if they are available, probably just 20 bucks) then take the 30 minutes, get up there, undo the wiring, replace the bad remote receiver with the good one and rewire it. But that is not what I wanted to do 5 months after buying the unit.I reached out to Amazon about the ceiling fan that no longer works, they said it only had a 30 day warranty and to contact the reseller “SMARTHOUSE”. I emailed Smarthouse and a day later they responded i should talk to the manufacturer. So that is what i will do.I called Hunter customer service and they were super helpful. They sent me out a replacement remote / receiver combo and told me how to sync up the remote. I went and on a whim re-synced the remote and it started working so I didn’t even need the additional parts they sent.Sorry bout the 2 sideways pics if indeed they come out that way, seems they don’t like pics shot in portrait mode.Hope this helps rule this fan in or out for you.

The media could not be loaded.  The fan has quite a bit of different components however it is pretty easy for one person to put together particularly with features like the ceiling plate hooks. The fan is low profile enough that it doesn’t make my low ceiling obvious. It is really quiet on all speeds and powerful. Overall a good looking sturdy fan at a great price point. My only concern would be if something happens to the remote there is no other way to operate the fan/light. Another reviewer mentioned facing the Hunter logo away from view which was a good call since I wanted the fan to wash into the white ceiling.

  6. Rob

Bought to replace a larger ceiling fan without remote in a 10×12 bedroom with 8 foot ceilings. The fan is contemporary and blends nicely into the white ceiling. On high the fan does a nice job of moving air. However, at the sides of the room I do not feel much airflow. Since this is over a bed the fan is perfect. If your room is larger you might want to choose a model with longer fan blades. The remote is nicely designed and includes a holder that fits over the current wall switch plate and still allows access to the existing wall switch. Dimmer function on light cycles between bright to dim, I would rather have a toggle (Lo -High) switch. There are three separate speed buttons 1 – 2 – 3 and 0 for OffInstallation was about an hour. You need to have an existing ceiling box specified for a ceiling fan. The fan does not include the bolts to attach the fan mounting plate to the ceiling box (these are usually supplied with a ceiling fan mounting electrical box). The directions are complete but confusing. They include numbered steps with clear diagrams. However within each numbered steps are sub steps with text in rectangles which are not lettered such as 1A 1B 1C. Thus it is easy to miss a sub step that you must follow from left to right within the numbered section. If you have solid electrical power wires, such as Romex, you will want to strip additional insulation off of the fan wires which are copper stranded, before connecting or placing on the ceiling mount. Be careful one on the wires is an antenna for the remote. Installation requires that you also have to connect the remote receiver into the cap. Study the wiring instructions in advance. You hook the fan onto the ceiling plate to connect wires then raise fan to ceiling plate and attach screws. Each fan blade is attached with 3 separate screws. This was not easy. The fan blade has to be held against the attachment area within the fan base, that is black and angled. In order to line up the screws I had a friend shine a flashlight into the base of the fan so the light reflected through the screw holes from above. This made lining up the holes easier but the screws are flat head machine screws so you have to line everything up correctly. The fan is quiet on high and no fan blade noise. However, there is a faint motor hum. The motor is very quiet but I did notice the sound but very faint. I have another ceiling fan with a DC motor and it’s silent.Overall, very happy with the fan. Hunter emblem is attached to side of fan housing. Did not see a way to remove it, but you can install fan ceiling mount base plate so emblem faces the direction you wish.

Time will tell if this product holds up, but so far, so good. Easy to install. Sits exactly flush with the ceiling. Comes with LED bulbs. The thing I like most is that it’s remote-operated but comes with a mount for your wall switch so that you can leave the remote docked (see photo). There are 3 fan speeds, and you can brighten and dim the light by holding down the light button on the remote. I ended up buying two more of these for other bedrooms in my house.

  8. BlueStreak

This fan was installed by an electrician so I cannot comment on ‘easy to install’ – it was easy for him, though! Overall I am please with the fan, after about a month of use. In winter, I run it to distribute warm air when I have a fire in the wood burning stove. In summer, I will run it to distribute cool air when the central AC is on, or when the windows are open and I need more of a breeze. The remote is super-easy to use, and while there is a low hum on speed #2 and its louder on #3, I rarely use a ceiling fan on the highest speed so likely this won’t be an issue. The light fixture is a dimmer and it is easy to adjust the brightness by holding down the on/off button. I like the change of not having three light bulbs & covers hanging down, just a dome-type light. While the blade design is not quite my favorite [squared blade tips], it is attractive in my coastal cottage and the white body and blades blend in with the white ceiling. The fan works well so far and produces good air movement, so I am pleased with it.

  9. Aileen

I purchased 2 of these lighted, remote control fans. They work great! They are very quiet, especially on the lowest setting, which gives a good breeze. I actually just ordered another one, a larger size (54″) for another room in my house. These ones are 44″ and work great in my 11’x12′ room and my 11’x14′ room. They are white and blend right in with the 8′ ceiling. They come down 11″. Also, the light has a dimmer that can be set on the remote. I had them installed by a friend electrician for $100.00 each. I would definitely recommend them.

  10. Lisa G

I installed this by myself, which is hard to do no matter the fan, but it wasn’t impossible. It looks great, works really well, and it’s VERY quiet!!! I love the remote feature. I have this installed in my kitchen, and the wall switch for that fixture also has some nearby can lights on it. I didn’t want to put a fan switch there. So I have the main switch as it was (which happens to not be all that near where the fan is), and then I have the remote for the fan on the wall near where the fan is. If I want the fan on, I probably also want my ceiling lights on, since I’d be working in the kitchen. So I turn on the ceiling lights as I come into the kitchen, and then I can turn the fan on if I need to, with the remote. The light on the fan stays “on” for the remote, so it comes on when I use the main switch. But if for some reason I wanted it off, with the nearby can lights still on, I can use the remote to turn it off.
