We loved our old fan in our bedroom that we had for many, many years. Especially the Chicago style light fixture. It was a Harbor Breeze. But, couldn’t find another even similar so we bought this one. It is very pretty and quiet and the lighting is nice. We run the bedroom fan at night 365 days a year so quiet is a must. Just hoping this one lasts as long as the other one. Honeywell usually makes a good product.

We have now purchased 5 of these fans! We put four in a home we remodeled, then chose this fan again a year later to put in our own home. We have installed it both with lights and without (even if you buy with the light kit, it comes ready to install with or without the lights). It is simple, yet pretty, and functional! With all five, we’ve never had a balance or noise issue.. Just a great product at a great price.

Fan was a little difficult to install, I was able install by myself mounting was easy, no issue with wires, problem came in to play when I tried to remove the 10 screws from fan motor, some of them were so tight I had to use a WD40 to get them to unscrew almost to the point of stripping the screw to get them out, these 10 screw were used to attached the blades to the fan the instructions ask you to do it after the fan was mounted to the ceiling before attaching the blades, I would say it took me close to 45 min to an hour to get this part accomplished. Other they that the fan was easy to install and looks and works beautifully.

Ok. I would have given a 5 star if not for the installation. The fan is beautiful and very quiet but if I hadn’t had help I would have been forced to return it. The problem is in the light housing. The housing is so small I had to smash all the wires together in order to getthe cover on. I have a feeling this fan won’t last long. I hope I’m wrong.Update. I’ve had this fan for months now. It is on almost 24/7. It’s very quiet and puts out a lot of air. I absolutely love it and I’m not mad about the difficult installation anymore.

This review is for Honeywell model# 50183 Glen Alden fan. Amazon get your crap together and stop lumping all reviews together by brand. Many reviews on here clearly have nothing to do with this fan. For instance this fan is not remote control nor does it have the small light base. On to the review of The Fan. Very easy to install if you know how to read directions and follow them. If you can’t walk and chew bubble gum at the same time hire someone to install it instead of giving bad reviews because you don’t know what the hell you’re doing. This is a 4-speed fan. The speed on high is very nice and creates a good breeze. The bubble base is standard size and the bulbs that come with the fan are indeed LEDs not incandescent. Overall very satisfied and would recommend it. Hope this fan is still in stock when I need to replace two older fans, if not at least it will be a Honeywell.

  6. E.T.

This is a new design – easier to attach the fan blades to their brackets. Hopefully this method will hold up.I was pleased to find an extra screw for the fan blade attachment when I dropped one 🙂 Thanks guys for including this and saving me a long search! The shades are attached with circular rings rather than with three thumbscrews. I only mention this as I wanted to use my prior set of shades and was concerned. The old shades did fit with these new rings, so I was able to reuse them and keep the decor matching. Finally, they arrived a day early!

Bought 3 of these fans to replace the old ones in my house and they work great. Pretty straight forward to install, just kind of tedious because of all the components. The fan looks nice and is very quiet even on high. It’s not silent like many people seem to expect, but it’s definitely quieter than my old fans. Also some reviewers say the fan speed isn’t enough and doesn’t circulate air very well. I think those people might prefer a tornado or one of those giant industrial fans they use in warehouses or mechanic garages. This fan has nice speeds and moves the air well. Keep in mind it’s a 52″ so it will spin slower compared to a smaller 42″ but it still does the job well.

  8. TJReads

I love this ceiling fan, finally a fan that actually moves a lot of air, quiet, has 4 speeds instead of three. Easiest fan to install that we’ve had. Installing fans is not one of my husbands favorite things but this one was fairly quick and simple, no holding 20 lbs in the air.

I replaced an older fan that worked just fine, but had 3 smaller bulbs hidden behind a bowl. Changing bulbs was always difficult, and the bowl kept some of the light from coming through. So, when I got the Honey Well, I picked the one with the 4 exposed, standard socket bulbs. They’re WAY easier to swap out, and my room is twice as bright as before.Installation was pretty easy. Taking my old fan out was a little trickier, since I didn’t have instructions, but installing the new one went really smoothly. I like the way the blades secure without needing to be screwed on. I’d suggest having magnetized screwdrivers, since you’ll have to use one hand to hold pieces in place while screwing it together over your head.My house is older, and the light fixtures aren’t grounded, so the green wire wasn’t being used by my old fan. On the new fan, I just tucked it up out of the way, and I’m not going to worry about it.As for performance, the fan is dead quiet on all 4 speeds, doesn’t wobble, and I didn’t need to use the little balancing weights they included. Installation took a little over an hour, including unpacking time. Totally worth the effort, and I’m really happy with it.
