10 reviews for Honeywell Carmel 48-Inch Ceiling Fan with Integrated Light Kit and Remote Control, Five Reversible California Redwood/Mendoza Rosewood Blades, Brushed Nickel

  1. AronInLHP

The media could not be loaded.  Read a lot of other reviews about noise, wobble, insufficient airflow, low light bulbs etc. None of that was an issue with mine, works perfectly, tho I was rigorous ensuring snug screws in all connections. It did only have 2 bulbs, but LED and quite bright. The fan is quieter even than my old Hunter that it replaces, and at high speed is a wind tunnel!I did upgrade, and swapped out the included receiver with a small wifi receiver (less than $30) that I got at amazon. Much better than paying $250 and up for a smart fan. If you watch the attached video, be sure to have your sound on. Overall I feel this was an excellent purchase, and am so glad I didn’t let some of the negative reviews guide my choice.

  2. Amazon Customer

The fan is in a sunroom added to the back of the house. I wanted a flush mount ceiling fan with a LED light kit that didn’t hang down from the fan because the ceiling is not very high. We wanted a remote control but also a light switch control. We also wanted a grey tone fan blade to match our flooring. This fan checked all the boxes. It is recommended that an electrician install it and we followed that recommendation so it could be hard wired into our light switch. Visitors like it and so do we!

Purchased this fan to replace a 10 year old fan in our bedroom that was humming so loud it kept me awake. I was fairly particular about what I wanted: quiet, remote control, LED lights, and a style that matched our décor. I had been looking solely at a Hunter as we have a number of these in the house and they tend not to disappoint. Stumbled upon this Honeywell because of it’s great look but then found it had all the features. I’m a DIY’er and have installed numerous fans but I have to say the instructions for this unit were spot on and easy to follow. You just have to follow them. Fan is awesome and we appreciate the dimmable LED lights. It may not be a quiet as a Hunter but definitely quieter than the previous unit (ever so slight hum on low). All in all, great value.

We bought this for our dining room. Its actually a really nice fan.Installation was relatively easy. The instructions were mostly clear and easy to follow. The only complaint we have is the light. The bulbs are tiny!It comes with 2 but they are really dim. You have to buy brighter A15 E26 lamps.Unfortunately they’re far and few between. I found ones that are meant to go in fridges that are brighter. It’s a huge change and makes it a lot easier to see what we are eating. All in all a great ceiling fan. I can recommend it.

So we are enjoying the fan….it has a nice modern look to it. I love the remote features, especially the ability to dim the lights. Installation was pretty straight forward and the instructions are pretty clear and easy to follow. If you are inclined towards this kind of job it really isn’t tough at all. The fan is very quiet on the lowest setting, which is what we have it on 90% of the time….on the other settings you can hear it, but it’s not crazy loud. I would definitely recommend this fan….for the price, the features and quality are very nice.

this is a great fan. I hardly ever have to put it on the second level as the first one is sufficient enough for my kids 12×14 bedroom. It wasn’t too hard to put together, took my husband about 45 minutes. My only complaint is the remote – it could have been designed better, button wise. Also, instead of a clip on the wall mount, it has a little notch in the back where you hang it on the wall mount. It has to go on just a certain way otherwise it falls off.

  7. Summerrat

Prior to ordering this fan, I had ordered two fans that were not a major US brand and ended up sending them both back for various reasons. I decided to stick with a brand that I was familiar with that had pretty good reviews. The installation is very straightforward, there are no steps that you have to sit there scratching your head and saying “WHAT?” The fan also has a few nice features that I did not even know that it can perform. The remote is very nice and fits securely in a wall holder. The fan comes with two 60 watt bulbs that light up my kitchen nicelyDo yourself a favor and stick with the major brands and save yourself a headache. I would highly recommend this fan.

It was surprisingly difficult finding a grey low profile fan with a light and no hanging cords. Especially one under $300. So happy to find this one and the Amazon price was about $20 less than Lowe’s.My friend was able to install this to replace a light fixture by himself in about an hour. He said it was a little more complicated than some other brands but not bad.The grey is slightly darker than pictured but it’s still a great clean look. I would’ve liked a 52″ fan for the size of my bedroom, but it moves air pretty well.As others mentioned in reviews, it can be pretty loud, but only when it’s on high. You can kind of hear a buzz and the air movement is loud. But just keep it on medium if noise bothers you. I love the look so much I’m probably buying another for the living room

  9. Machelle Ferry

Easiest ceiling fan I have ever installed. I moved with the Navy every 2 or 3 yrs so I have had to install more ceiling fans than your average woman. The remote is better and different than the one pictured. See my pic. Love it. Noise is very low. Ppl that complained about install dis not cut their wires down (I am guessing). That would make it a pita. Easy peasy for me. Love-love it bought 3 more.

Good: Clean, attractive, contemporary look. Reversible blades look good on both sides. Quiet; barely audible even in a quiet room. Well-balanced out of the box; a tiny wobble on high speed, nothing at all on low or medium. Relatively easy to install, with one caveat (see below). I thought the remote control frivolous, but it turns out that the lack of pull-chains is nice. (And hardwired switch-box controls are surprisingly hard to find and to make work well.) LED bulbs and remote batteries included. ETL listed and lifetime warranty.Bad: $65 premium for the pewter finish, no idea why. Makes this fan rather expensive for what you get. The wireless receiver / motor control sits in a slot in the mounting bracket, which is fine unless your electrical box is shallow and/or crowded (mine is both,) in which case the receiver box BARELY leaves room for the power connections. Extending the bracket another inch, or widening the canopy a little to let the receiver sit to one side of the bracket, would have made installation a breeze. As it was, I had to do some serious juggling to get everything to fit.Ugly: Once installed and powered up, every fan and light function can be controlled with the remote. Except one. For reasons which still mystify me, reversing the fan direction involves not only a physical switch on the fan, but a switch *behind the lamp cover*. Now, granted, most people reverse the fan only twice per year, if at all. But if you do, you get to go up a ladder and remove and replace a rather awkward and delicate glass globe to throw that switch. I’d put the over/under on the glass slipping out of my hands and taking a seven-foot plunge during one of these switchovers at about five years. I’m not an engineer, but I see no excuse at all for this. At least one of the eight remote control buttons is frivolous (and i could argue two more;) was it really *that* difficult to add that function to the remote? Would have simplified the lamp wiring quite a bit too.Bottom line: Aside from the above, I’m impressed with this fan. Looks good, performs well, looks like it’ll continue to do so for a long time. But I’m not going to reverse the fan unless I absolutely have to. Five stars, but it was a very close thing; the high price and that hidden reverse switch very nearly cost it that fifth star.
