10 reviews for Honeywell Belmar 52-Inch Outdoor Ceiling Fan, Five Damp Rated Blades, Exterior, Bronze

  1. R. Miller

I bought two of these fans to install in an outdoor pavilion. My 10 year old daughter and I assembled them in about 30 minutes and I installed them in about the same amount of time. I’ve put together several ceiling fans, so I glanced at the instructions, but basically wing’d it. They were easy to install and wire and did not require any additional balancing. I wouldn’t say the move a ton of air, but you can feel a little breeze if you are directly under them on high. I should say that they are probably 9 feet off the floor in my installation. These are not fancy; they are basic white with plastic/vinyl blades. The don’t look cheap, and they do serve their purpose. I would buy them again if I had a need for more.

At the bottom is my original, one-star review; it was based exclusively on the fan’s “low air volume”. I’m now substantially upgrading my review due to the following.1. World-class, top-tier Customer Support. Due to the review, they contacted me immediately, and we had extensive and substantial email exchanges, during which they offered every reasonable kind of help. I copied my final email to Support below.2. I’ve become convinced the fan is competitive with other current fans in its price range in terms of air-flow and that my expectations were too high.3. Other than air-flow, there are a lot of positive things to say about the fan: Good, heavy construction; good documentation; extra screws, washers, etc. just in case; operation is extremely smooth with no balancing required. Here’s my final email to Support:”Thanks Nick. I agree with all your conclusions below and don’t want to invest more time in experimental swaps or returns. The fan is a disappointment, but our exchange has convinced me it’s probably comparable with other fans in its price range. However, your customer support is top-tier in a world where even merely satisfactory customer support is becoming more and more rare. Consequently, I’ll enthusiastically upgrade my review. Thanks again,Bill”Below is my original review.I’m very disappointed. Including extra hardware, I invested approximately $110 in this ceiling fan. But much more importantly, I invested over 6 hours of my valuable time installing it. The fan works, but it moves very little air; its highest speed is barely up to medium on my other ceiling fans. This is the most anemic ceiling fan I’ve owned, and it’s of no value to me.So, after my very considerable investment, I have nothing to show except a depleted wallet and lack of things I could otherwise have accomplished with my time!

Needed a plain white 52-inch ceiling fan to replace an almost 20-year-old one on my screened porch that had started squeaking like a banshee. Liked the looks of this one on Amazon (much larger selection of fans than available from big box stores locally). Attracted by the price, Honeywell reputation and high ratings/reviews by customers. Turned out to be the perfect choice – securely boxed, arrived in a couple of days, clear instructions/user guide. Easy installation, is whisper quiet and really moves some air. Included all applicable parts, carefully wrapped. Color is flat white; plastic blades have a faux wood grain that might sound cheesy but does not look bad at all. Fan is light kit adaptable and seems sturdy/well built. Very pleased with this purchase!

light and easy to install. Directions were clear and easy to understand. would recommend. If using outdoors, use a longer down rod to maximize the small blade size.

…but that’s a good thing. We have a large, low outside covered patio which will be warm during the summer. After re-doing some shoddy wiring, we added a junction box for a ceiling fan. We just happened to stumble upon this one and decided to give it a shot. The installation was relatively easy (though I have yet to find a ceiling fan that can be done by 1 person easily) and it functions well. It seems to move a lot of air, but being winter, it will be too early to tell how much relief it will bring in the Florida summers.

Installed this to replace aging fan on front porch. While it might be good value for the money it’s tedious to install. Blades have to be bolted onto brackets. The bolts and lock washers are small . Then the blade assembly has to be installed on the housing when it’s hanging in place. Would be easier if I worked for cirque du soleil….your trying to hold the blade assembly while putting a rubber silencer in between while you start the bolt. I used super glue to hold that in place. A magnetic Phillips head screwdriver would be a lifesaver ….I need two more fans….so….like you I’m reading reviews looking for a better product……this is an update one my original review…I stand by everything I said earlier …BUT…I decided to order two more..,….because of being familiar with the first the next two were a walk in the park to install. Several things about this fan stand out. One they are super quiet. Two..the housing on top of the motor is solid….no place for mud daubers and other critters….so….yes I recommend this product isI was asked if this could be flush mounted. The answer is no …you have to use at least the short rod provided. To flush mount you would need to bolt the housing to the ceiling plate …there is no provision for this. Hanging down 3″ o n 8′ ceiling still gives plenty of clearance. Hope this helps

We put a couple of these in our covered patio. The heat this summer has been pretty extreme at times (we are in the suburbs, so we avoided the 118F highs, but still saw 115F). The fans are still going strong. They are pretty well-protected from moisture but, after inspecting them closely while assembling/hanging them, I can tell you they provide a route for water to escape so it doesn’t get trapped, and the blade material seems like a pretty waterproof composite material. I am not worried about water.

So far so good. Its super quiet but puts off lots of air flow. So glad i picked this one for our living room and porches.

Excellent fan, with much higher CFM rating than similarly priced fans at big box stores. I used this fan on a screened porch to replace a smaller fan with drooping blades and peeling paint, that apparently was not for humid, outdoor use. I used the short downrod included with the kit, which provided 11.5 inches from the ceiling to the bottom of the fan blades (the switch housing was 0.5 inches lower). Instructions were straight-forward, and no problems were encountered during the installation. The motor is heavy-duty, very quiet, and has a label rating it at 70 watts, though the energy rating on the box says 56.4 watts. The 5070 CFM airflow is strong enough for outdoor use in hot weather, with no wobble in the fan. If the weather is cooler, the medium or low speeds would probably be comfortable enough. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this Honeywell International branded product, made in China (aren’t most of them now?). Hong Kong Electric Appliance Manufacturing Co. Ltd. includes a limited lifetime warranty on this fan.

I bought 2 of the these to replace out door porch fans that had been installed 20+ years ago.Assembly and installation is straight forward and was no problem. As others have noted some extra screws, washers and other hardware came with extras which is nice because we all know “something” is going to get lost or misplaced during the installation process. :0)After installation there is not the sign of movement from either fan at high speed. NO balancing was necessary.I checked both big box handy man stores locally. One said they had some similar fans on their web page but when I got there their were none. I checked the other stores locally and found one fan of my liking 35 miles away. (Not 2 fans)If finally dawned on me to try Amazon. Viola 2 days later a nice driver delivered to our door.At $88 each I find these to be a terrific buy.It is no wonder Amazon is doing so well IMO
