We are a small Habitat for Humanity affiliate that erects our own trusses and decks the roof. We needed some personal fall protection and liked the idea of the retractable lanyard. Our roof’s are only a 5 pitch. We were concerned about 11′ being enough working room, so we use this in conjunction with a non-shock absorbing manual rope grab on a 25′ rope. Most of the time, we have only 5-10′ of the rope grab deployed. This let us have the freedom to work, while we felt very comfortable, even on the edge. We’ve used these on one roof, with 2 of us on lanyards. We were so satisfied, that we’ve just ordered 2 more for our next house, so that we can increase the number of people on the roof.

The picture doesn’t show it but this comes with a carabiner for the top.

Bought this for work on a boom lift. It is easy to use. I haven’t, and don’t plan on, trying it out in a catapult situation, but if it happens I will update if I can.

I have purchased 20+ of these and have only one not retract after continual use for over a year. We utilize several hundred SRL’s in our company and this is better than average

Another great product from Guardian. Great for fall prevention, has shock absorber built in in the event fall arrest is needed. However do not use this on roofs, it is not made for horizontal deployment nor is the web strap (lanyard portion) built to withstand leading edge work (wear sharp edges could cut the strap). This is an excellent self retracting lifeline in most applications wear the anchor point man be maintained above your head. Stops you in less than 2 feet if it detects a fall is in progress. This is a non serviceable lifeline in the event of fall arrest. If you do not know the difference between ‘fall prevention’ and ‘fall arrest” you have no business buying this device. Get educated first, then buy!

Good construction and has been a vital part of our safety equipment on the job sites. Satisfied with these yo-yos/lanyards.

Perfect weight and length does the job. I constantly have to work on high pitch roofs. This will allow me to get around without getting too close to the edge fairly lightweight built very durable high-quality.
