10 reviews for DEWALT Router, Fixed Base, 1-3/4-HP (DW616) , Yellow

  1. Bo Deadley

These are great routers; very robust. We run them all day 5 days a week, usually last for 2 – 3 years. We mount them in a table router config. Easy to accurately adjust height with precision.

  2. PA

Used to replace older PC router with frozen bearings. Easy to use and accurate, but the circular adjuster is a bit rough to turn. Works smoothly and is a great addition.

  3. Eric Tavitian

The DeWalt router works quite well. I have no issues with how well it functions. I have been slowly replacing my other Porter-Cable routers as they break down with the DeWalt. Building custom prototype audio file speakers cabinets require up to seven routers mounted with different bits in order to produce what needs to be done. So a high quality router is essential.

  4. Michael C

As I kep building my shop, I make more workstations for different operations. Very fair price for a quality product. Picked this router because I use bits to 1/2 inch and need to slow the speed down on the big diameter cutters. Check your router bits for top speed for same operation. This router will do the trick. My 3rd one.

  5. M. Findlay

I am a home woodworker who used to work in a custom woodshop. Our favored brand was Delta (later Porter Cable) and my home router was one of these smaller PC models. Worked well for many years and small enough to fit into one hand. That model recently quit working and is no longer made. Other more recent PC tools have been poorly made and seem designed for the home market and not nearly as robust as before. Hence, this DeWalt router was the closest model I could find. VERY happy with it. It’s a bit bigger and not able to fit in one hand, but still small enough to handle easily. The depth adjustment is far better design than the PC model giving much better control to small adjustments. Plenty of power to handle 1/4″ or 1/2″ shank bits and totally pleased after one month of use.

  6. Moosemiester

It’s fast. It’s easy to separate the motor from the base. Everything I have used it for (pine, oak, teak) it hasn’t broken a sweat even with a large facing bit on oak.The only nitpick I have is that the pins used to align the base with the motor could be a bit larger, if you’re in a hurry and don’t carefully align the pins you can get the motor jammed in the base and it’s a real pain to get them separated again. Only made that mistake once…

  7. anthony d. sanchez

Does well. Easy to use. Could use a depth ruler to assess depth vs eyeballing the depth and using the guide as such, a guide vs an actual depth measure. No speed adjustment but did great on my custom made picnic table of red oak. Could use some instructions on how far to place bit into collet. Saw on YouTube not to insert all the way to avoid breaking bit. Small issues for a product that I’m very happy with.

  8. Yarburger

A dynamite router. Some difficulty in getting the circular attachment to line up with my Bosch router table, so beware. The router has incredibly accurate adjustments and the adjustment up and down is very simple and smooth. Changing bits is easy, it does require the two wrenches included, but the task is a simple snap each way.The router does not vibrate much either; the motor adjustments for speed are easy to reach under my router table. It has ample power to cut easily through oak and maple without burning the wood. This isn’t a lightweight router; it’s full size and full weight.I highly recommend this router.

  9. Amazon Customer

We cut open a wall and needed to extend the railings where the wall was. Nobody had the handrails anymore so we decided to make out own. Worked perfect for the job

  10. Armand

I love the design of this router. It may not be variable speed, but it cuts beautifully very low vibration and is very well-built. My only frustration is that it does not fit my router table. After removing the baseplate from the base, The exposed screw holes do not offer more than a single match up to my router table which is designed to be universal. It would be nice if they made an adapter base. Maybe they do, and I just can’t find it. In the meantime I fabricated one out of wood
