Compact and Convenient

Whether you’re working in a tight space, reaching overhead to cut material, or working in a generally challenging area, the DWE357 is the ideal reciprocating saw for the job. Weighing just 6.8 pounds and measuring just 14.5 inches in length, the DWE357’s compact size allows users to make strong, quick cuts in confined spaces, like under sinks, in corners, and between rafters. Users can get into tight spaces on the job site to quickly and cleanly cut through metal, wood, plastic, drywall, composites, fiberglass, and more.

Powerful and Efficient

Just because it’s small, though, doesn’t mean the DWE357 doesn’t pack a punch. With a 12-amp motor capable of delivering 0-3,000 strokes per minute (SPM) with a 1-1/8-inch blade stroke length, it also comes equipped with a keyless lever-action four-position blade clamp to place the blade in vertical or horizontal configurations. The ergonomic handle with overmolded grip provides additional comfort over long run times on the job; it also decreases vibration and increases control and balance. The pivoting shoe offers leverage to efficiently cut through materials, especially in flush-cutting applications. Delivering a big impact in a small package, the DWE357 is the perfect addition to your tool collection for both professional jobs and DIY projects.

10 reviews for DEWALT Reciprocating Saw, Compact, 12-Amp (DWE357)

  1. chet d.

this is the best reciprocating saw I have ever owned, the blade can be inserted parallel or horizontal. smooth variable speed as well. sold my makita for this one.

  2. Lauren

Easy to use. Multi-functionality is helpful. Would be a great gift, too.

  3. Jessi

I am 5 feet nothing and 112 pounds. I received this yesterday and cut up an entire ping pong table and wooden playhouse with ease. This thing is a power house. Love it. Best tool I have ever had and super easy for us tiny people. 😂 Great for single moms that don’t have muscle around the house.

  4. ljósmyndari

PowerfulEasy to useVersatile – multi-position bladeNot too heavy but still has weight. I did not have any issues using the saw above my head but my wife found it heavy for her to use.Overall, I am very happy with this saw. Great value and function.

  5. Kim Gillespie

Like this Dewalt very much! Used it for mainly cutting Bamboo trees down . SO easy to use, manipulate and manuever! Blade lock is terrific as well as you don’t have to fight to replace blade!

  6. Carl H.

I love this recip saw.Small, powerful and well-balanced. Can get into tight spaces. I have been using this saw for about a month and this tool delivers the quality that I have come to expect from all my DeWalt tools.I am not having any “vibration issues” whatsoever…but I use recip saws almost daily and know how to handle the cutting action. You have to have the right blade position, right type and length of blade, start slow, let the cut develop, etc. You can’t just lay the blade ( especially the longer ones ) where you want to cut and start blasting wide open throttle at the cut. That’s not how any recip saw works…also keep in mind that this saw doesn’t offer an elliptical cut…just back and forth. If you don’t know how to use this ( or any other ) reciprocating saw properly of course you will vibrate the heck out of what you are cutting. Use the proper length and type of blade, start somewhat slow, let the cut develop, etc and you will get good results.I rate this saw a solid 5 stars.

  7. Woodwardia

Impressed! Having come from the Milwaukee line (and ridgid, etc.) I was surprised at the weight/ power ratio. I’m full time remodeling and other than question about longevity/ reliability (even the Milwaukee only last 3 or so years) it’s so far proving quite respectable! One correction: some pictures and videos show flush cutting when in fact there’s an appr. 1/2″ offset for a true flush cut, so don’t expect that w/o using a longer blade and the associated caveats (blade wandering, potential for binding, etc.) The one feature that would improve this even more is a rafter hook!

  8. Timothy Neal

I needed a saw that would fit between rafters and would cut them. This saw completely fulfills my needs. It has a cut quality (depending on blade) comparable to other recip. saws. It does not have the same power or orbital cut that larger recip saws have. But, for what I need it to do it works great. I have had no problems with it. I primarily use Lenox brand blades for all my reciprocating saws. This saw does not have the same “feel” as other DeWalt tools I own. It feels cheaper. The motor runs a little rougher and the shoe design looks less robust.I do not have any plans to use this as a demo tool. I have larger more powerful reciprocating saws for that work.

  9. Ralph D.

I am very pleased with this tool. Strong cuts and fits between studs lengthwise. Made a thought job so much easier. No complaints.

  10. Bluegw

I’m a Dewalt fan (over 20 tools). I have a 18v reciprocating saw but needed more power to remove the root system of a hardwood tree I had removed in our backyard. This tool is extremely well balanced and easy to use without tiring your hands or wrists. I paired it with a SKIL 9-inch Ugly blade and it made easy work of the roots. There were several comment/questions about it being 10 or 12 amps – embossed on the saw it says 12 AMPS.
