10 reviews for DEWALT ATOMIC 20V MAX Reciprocating Saw, One-Handed, Cordless, Tool Only (DCS369B)

  1. Tinkererguy

I have a bigger saw for heavier work but wanted something smaller, both for manuverability and weight. This is an excellent saw, and is my fav for cutting tree branches, or cutting in limited space. The shorter stroke is a plus for tight quarters cutting as well. The tool is very powerful, and ergonomically, is very comfortable. If you do heavier work and can only swing one saw, I’d opt for the bigger unit but if you do occasional work, or light work, then this is an excellent tool. Battery life if long, motor power is strong. I’m so glad I bought this tool!

  2. Dixie Flatline

Been using this saw almost daily for nearly a month now, and had to review. The battery life is great, depending on the battery you buy. I’m using the 6ah batteries and get quite a few cuts out of them. And while I’m not cutting steel or anything, I am cutting live (green) bamboo. The property we just bought is infested with it, and I learned quickly that my Stihl chainsaw was not up to the task. Live bamboo is stranded, almost like a grass, and dulls a chain like nothing but dirt will. This little chop saw (with a pruning blade) is just the ticket. One handed, so you can hold the stalk, and timberrr. Then you can get all the way down to the root level and cut it off so mowers can run through the area. Great for my somewhat heavy duty usage.

I bought this to substitute for my corded rip saw, which was powerful but an absolute pain to use. To replace the blade, you needed to use an Allen wrench and fight with it. This unit, being cordless, is extremely easy to maneuver and just as strong at cutting as the corded unit I have. Replacing the blade is simple. It also comes with DeWalt wood and metal blades, which is nice. I got about 8 cuts of 2″ x 6″ boards and the battery still was still 2/3 charged. My only regret is that I didn’t buy this sooner!!

Bought this a a thank you present to my son in-law who runs the commercial side of medium sized AC business. He’s fully bought in on the Dewalt 20V system and had the standard sawzall, but wanted this one for ease of one handed use while on a ladder. He’s in love with this saw and uses it nearly every day on his current installation projects. Would have bought one for myself too, but am already bought in on a different system. I gotta admit, it’s nicer and way more powerful than my 12V system. (But mine does work fine for my purposes)

Near 0 vibration at full trigger I’m a plumber and people freak out over loud noises its got plenty of power to cut 6″ schedule 80 PVC in one cut and with the 6amphr flexvolt battery it will cut through cast iron for half a day 20+ cuts 4″ with one blade and still have reserve left over well worth the money I paid here vs the retail store at $200

This DCS3698B Atomic 20V reciprosaw seems pretty decent overall. Its compact and light compared to my other Dewalt 20V reciprosaw. I’ve had it a few weeks and have used it mainly for cutting 2X and strapping, PVC conduit and liquid tight NM conduit up to 2-inch, AL SEU cable and triplex conductors up to 4/0. I cut a piece of 3/4-inch EMT the and it seemed to work well enough with small metal cutting blade that came with it. The saw has a short 5/8-inch stroke and needs a little forward pressure to help keep it biting into the material being cut. It does seem to run pretty smooth without much vibration, although if you don’t keep some pressure on it and steady the workpiece while cutting it can flutter back and forth without making much progress. The shoe on the saw pivots and the blade can be reversed for easier plunge cutting. The trigger is variable speed and of course has a lock off. The saw came with a belt clip and two blades, one standard wood cutting blade and one a short 3-inch metal cutting blade. I use the saw with a 5Ah battery and so far haven’t had one run down on me even after many cuts. This little saw is not a replacement for a full size reciprosaw, but it is very handy to have for working with conduit on a ladder and for making quick cuts here and there for service work.

As a proffessional home remodeler I will buy any tool that saves us time and effort or allows to produce a finer end product. This does all those things. For tight spaces or when you need to use one hand this is the right tool. Also is much less violent as it has a shorter stroke which makes it smoother.

  8. What the???

Powerful for its size. Very easy to handle. The guide foot makes it very easy to stay on line when compared to other reciprocating saw guides.

I had a bunch of stringers to cut in my ongoing attic project. I was using a somewhat dull backsaw. What a pain! I decided I needed a Sawzall to make the project easier and found this DeWalt product. It is fantastic! I already see multiple uses for it where I would have used a hand saw or dragged out the chop saw. It uses the battery packs that I already own.

I use several different name brands of tools, from Makita/Milwaulkee/Dewault/irwin..etc. Not being a contractor, I have no real preference of a particualr brand….just the the individual tool I happen to need at the time. I researched these 1 handed saws for some time and decided on this one. The revew videos I watched testing these were all very close in performance depending on the tests they did. (generally speaking). But this one stood out in all tests as the smoothest/least amout of vibration. Real world performance for me has been exceptional, especially the lack of vibration while cutting. Great tool, recommended.
