So I was actually searching for a glass knob mortise dummy set, but found most of even the dummy knobs were outrageously expensive. When I found this set which was much more reasonably priced I bought it and took it apart to use as two separate dummy knobs. So I can’t really speak to how well the mechanisms hold up (though everything worked well before I disassembled it – the key lock included) but I can attest that it looks very nice.

This product came on time and as adverised. I should note it also comes with two keys which I don’t think is mentioned in the product description. It was easy to install as all I had to do was remove the old lockset and re-install this one in it’s place. I did have to open the lock’s box and reverse the latch as it was turned the wrong way for my door and it didn’t come with instructions on how to do this but it was easy-peasy. The knobs screw onto the spindle instead of the old fashioned holes you have to line up with the screws, so you can tighten the knob assembly to your liking instead of having the knobs feel loose and shaky as on the originals. The finish is nice as well. The only part I was at all unsatisfied with was that the cover plates seem a bit flimsy because if you tighten their screws to what I consider snug, the covers start to bend a little. I plan on ordering 2 more of these locksets for other doors in my house, now that I know I’ll be satisfied with their look and quality, for their price, you just can’t go wrong with these.

I think it was more an issue with my old crooked house and my old crooked door jams but they weren’t 100% easy to install. If you were installing it on a new door in a new house, there will be absolutely no problem. Nobody can believe these are brand new, they have so much character. However, they close smoothly and are very sturdy and are a huge upgrade from the old door knobs and latches/mortises… If you must deviate from antique, this is a good option. Great price.

We ordered several of these to update a 100 year old house. The quality is very nice and have the same style and vintage door knobs and locks. The lock with the skeleton key is a nice touch, However the lock itself is not heavy duty like a modern day deadbolt, I would not use it to secure an external door. For internal doors, is a great buy.

My husband and I are replacing all the old doorknobs in our old house. Old can be cute but not when its entirely impractical because none of your doors latch properly and the handles always fall off. Also none of them had the keys still. These not only cover the whole area so we don’t have to putty any holes and paint, but they also have keys that work, which is fun and practical! Each one comes with two keys, so we are keeping all the doubles on a spare ring so we’ll have them should one go missing. These are clean looking and tasteful: perfect for replacing tarnished and defective ones from decades ago.

I have an old home and most of my doors have glass door knobs but many are missing pieces of their original hardware or have inoperable hardware. Specifically, our bathroom door wasn’t closing and locking properly so I bought this kit to make sure we could lock the bathroom door, but use our original glass doorknobs. I’m happy to report that this worked great in that respect! I’m so glad I was able to keep the original character details of my home and make them functional again thanks to this kit.

I am very pleased with the quality of the set – really attractive and definitely passes for an original antique glass door knob and plate in pristine condition. We did have a little trouble with the locking mechanism, but that was due to the condition of the door and frame, which have deteriorated over the years and are buried under layers of paint. Nothing to do with the product itself. I like the look of it so much, I just purchased another set for a closet door so it will exactly match the entrance door to the room.

I bought three of these lock sets five years ago, two of which are on doors I lock and unlock daily, and they still work just fine. The key is to take the lock set apart before installing and spray the internals liberally with white lithium grease. Also, make sure to check the knob set screw periodically. It is a fact of life with mortise units that each turn of the knob contributes to loosening the set screw and once that is too loose the knob will just spin around on the spindle without unlatching the door.

I’m flipping a house from the around 1920’s and the locks looked like crap. I wanted to keep the mortise look to keep with the theme of the house. I purchased 5 of these locks and they installed like a charm. No hassle and no mess and they look great!!

This is a great antique looking knob. If you have an older house it’s definitely worth the money. Very stable very beautiful and works well..:: at least I think it should lol. When I installed it I had it backwards so just make sure you don’t do that. Also, my house was built in the 40s, but not all of the holes and whistles lined up perfectly. You may or may not have to tweek it. Ours was off set by about 1/2 and inch or less and was an easy fix. Everyone loves the new knob ! Very eye catching! I would recommend to anyone looking for an elegant antique style.
