10 reviews for CRAFTSMAN Air Compressor, 6 Gallon, Pancake, Oil-Free with 13 Piece Accessory Kit (CMEC6150K)

I had a little trouble receiving my air compressor, but Amazon helped me get it straightened out. This compressor is extremely easy to use. Everything for quick start up is in the manual. However, I know some don’t believe in reading instructions so make sure you close the valve on the bottom of the tank before starting. Great pancake air compressor. I use it for filling up tires and blowing out filters mostly. Even if you use up the air, it fills up quickly. I love that it is easily portable in case of emergencies or just to save from having to get out an extension cord.

Love it so far, very lightweight and easy to use, I have it stored in my rv compartment

  3. Jos

I read several reviews knocking its air holding capability if left full. First, tighten valve on bottom of tank. It is installed loosely and needs to be tightened before first use. Second, I generally do not leave air in my compressor tanks for long periods, but if you desire to do so I would turn the line pressure valve all the way down so the only thing holding air is the tank. I tested this just to verify the complaints about this compressor and it has been three weeks now and I have not lost a pound of pressure with the line valve closed. With the valve open the air line does seep air slowly and would drain the tank in about 4 to 6 hours down to 30 pounds. This tells me the fittings are either not tight enough or not sealed properly. If you want to go all out order some Harvey seal for gas lines as Compressed air is a gas and seal the threads on all of the connections. You want cheap fix use Teflon plumbers tape on all connections. Saw complaints about using for large off road tires. So this how this set up works. If you have tires or anything that requires 85psi to fill you need a compressor that can generate 170psi or more. Why? Because the pressure will equalize meaning if you have this compressor that generates 150 psi it will equalize at at 75psi which means it will be very difficult to pressurize a tire over 75psi. The only way to prevent equalization is to use a one way valve nozzle to fill the tire. Almost all air compressor lines are a two way or open closed valve meaning if you exceed the pressure in the tank the air will flow back to the tank from whatever you are trying to inflate. It is not to say you couldn’t fill a tire to85psi with this unit it means every time the pressure drops to 90 in the tank air will start to flow back and force the compressor to continuously recharge the tank. This means you must stop inflating and let it fully charge repeatedly until you reach your desired pressure.Overall this is a great portable unit for tires, inflatable balls, impacts (if you don’t mind it running) air wrenches and air hammers. It is a 6 gallon tank, using air tools will make this run almost nonstop because of this size tank. I only had an issue with an axle that was rusted on and I needed the air hammer continuously for about 15minutes. I had to stop several times and let the tank fill. But I expected this as it is 6gal not 60.

I have a small garage and mostly just needed a compressor for tire pressure and the occasional air tool. I had been surviving on a cheaper brand for years until it broke. The difference is night and day. The motor fills the tank quick, it’s bigger than my old one yet less noisy, the regulated and tank controls are actually precise. Plus, it already comes with a lengthy hose and about any attachments you need for inflation.

I needed a portable air compressor for remodeling my daughters home. I looked at a bunch of portable pancake air compressors. You can go crazy comparing one unit to the other. I decided on the Craftsman 6 gal because of the Craftsman’s brand name, comparable features, and PRICE. These types of Air compressor are not quiet. You can get others air compressors that are very quiet, but the cost rises significantly. I used this compressor for running my nail guns on various trim work and repairing hard wood floor, I had no issues with the compressor, ran my 18 GA. And 15 GA nail guns without incident. I don’t have a framing nailer so I can’t say how it works with one. No issues, works as described, Great value.

This pump was set up and running in under 5 minutes. It comes with the air release valve on the bottom side of the tank in the open position so close it before starting for the first time. I did not hear the air escaping when I started the pump and thought it was defective at first. Once I had the air release valve closed it was up to pressure for use in about 3-5 minutes. I live in a four season climate and airing up or down the tires is nonstop. This will make my life much easier.

Our RV tires need 48 pounds of pressure but most gas stations have the tire pumps default at 32 pounds so that made it impossible to fill up our tires. We have one of those portable tire inflators but it just did not have the strength required to inflate the RV tires. Our last stop would have been at a place that sells tires but our tires are like new and those places are always busy, no place to even park the RV to run in and ask. Tired of playing games, we saw this and decided to give it a try. It worked PERFECTLY and is portable enough, weighs about 35 pounds, that we can carry it along with us on trips. It comes with an assortment of parts that not only allow you to inflate standard tires, but also basketballs, and other items. I am very pleased with this purchase. No more wandering around looking for a place to inflate the tires on ANY of our vehicles, no more saving quarters for those air machines at the gas stations. I am a very happy camper!

Excellent value! Typical Craftsman product, well made and made in USA.

  9. Yvonne Girton

Had a older craftsman evolve unit and it just wouldn’t hold the air. Filled this one up and the air stayed for over a week! This has power for simple things like filling up tires also plan on using it for air tools such as a nail gun. Good size and pretty lightweight so it can be moved around easily. Came with all the accessories so I don’t need to purchase anything additional. Also, the air line is pretty heavy duty so there should be no issues with holes or kinks.

  10. Layne

My husband kept asking me if he could buy a compressor. Oh, the uses it will have! Clean the garage. Fill tires. Etc., Etc. We saw this offered on Amazon and decided to order it. It comes with lots of attachments and is easy use and to carry around. He loves it! End of story!
