I upgraded to this Bosch a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t be happier with it. It made my old jigsaw feel like an ancient tool. For the last month I’ve had to turn to this Bosch jigsaw many times for some tricky cuts in pressure treated lumber. Not only was the Bosch able to handle everything I threw at it, but it became a tool I actually looked forward to using each and every time, it’s just that good. It’s beefy and very durable and while I wasn’t careless with it, it was one of several power tools I’ve been using for the past month, usually ending up on the floor or in a pile of other tools, or sitting on a pile of scrap lumber, and it took every bit of abuse with barely a mark to show for it. This jigsaw has given me more confidence to take on other projects I might otherwise avoid with an inferior jigsaw. This is also my second Bosch tool — I think they’ve won me over, excellent products!

After struggling for many years with lesser quality jigsaws, I finally decided to do a fair amount of research, spend a reasonable amount of money, and by something that would do a great job and finally last me for years. My best research was actually visiting a few commercial cabinet wood shops, ask a few questions and see exactly what they were using. Unquestionably, the repeated answer was that Bosch was the only way to go. All tool manufacturers have their sweet spot and definitely Bosch really shines in the jigsaw category. This particular tool is built with a high degree of quality and really performs under conditions my previous jigsaws we just continued to struggle with. This unit works great on all woods I’ve tried including 5/8 plywood (rep and crosscut) w/o wander, You won’t be disappointed. Buy the Bosch!

I ordered this as a replacement to my ’80s Bosch jig saw whose blade locking mechanism broke and a replacement part was no longer available. I hated to get rid of at as the motor was still fine.It took a little while to get used to the variable speed on the trigger compared to my old jig saw which had a thumb wheel for speed control. What I like; the power, 7 amps vs. 5.8 amps, blower speed increases with cutting speed keeping your cut line clearer and best of all, tool-less blade mounting and ejection! Inserting or changing a blade literally only takes a second now. The blade locks in securely and when you want to remove the blade, unlocking it shoots the blade out of its mount! Can’t get any easier than that.I’ve cut wood, Hardie backer board, and various woods without any issues. Cuts are straight and true.I don’t have any dislikes with this saw. The motor is smooth and I hope it has the same reliability of my 30+ year old former Bosch jig saw.

Hi had a Ryobi which had good reviews when I bought it, and I always thought why would someone pay so much more just for a jigsaw? Well, the Ryobi sucked and this Bosch is fantastic. I couldn’t cut a straight line thru 3/4″ oak, and struggled to get the crooked line, and the deflection was terrible. This Bosch easily cuts thru the oak. The feel of it is so much better as well.

I debated between this and a cordless Makita since I have the battery kit and two tools that I think are great. However I opted for the corded Bosch after reading a lot of reviews and realizing unlike my cordless drill and impact driver I would always be using my Jig Saw close to an outlet. Once it arrived I was pleased with the extra long flexible cord and after trying some cuts found this to be an absolutely great tool. Easy to use and smooth. Doesn’t deviate from the line you’re following. Some people commented that it was difficult to follow the cut line with the anti-tearout insert which I didn’t find difficult at all. It has a line in the attachment to guide you so no problem at all. I would highly recommend this tool.

after years of struggling to make straight jigsaw cuts with a old black and decker I decided to go for a better tool. After carefully reading all the reviews I decided to go with the most frequently top rated Bosch JS470E. It was a little bit more than the rest of the pack but I think you will find it is worth it. Suddenly I am now a jigsaw star. Where before with the black and decker I would do anything to avoid having to use it as I couldn’t cut straight with it ever. With the bosch suddenly the jigsaw has become a viable option. This saw literally has no wander. It is truly a pleasure to use. It will even cut through cast iron like butter(don’t ask)

I just started a small production wood shop and my trusty Skil jigsaw finally gave in. I have a few Bosch tools and knew I wanted a Bosch jigsaw. Read all the reviews and made the plunge to get one. It has not disappointed. The phrase hot knife through butter is the best way to describe it. Very smooth cutting. Powerful. I love everything about it. I’ve used it for hundreds of cuts through Baltic birch and it hasn’t bogged down at all. You will not be disappointed if you buy this. Nice long cord. Very sturdy case with room for the case Bosch makes to hold extra blades.

  8. Ruffslitch

It’s a Bosch tool. No complaints!😀 They tend to be well-made, reliable, lighter in weight, and quieter than other brands I’ve used.I just nipped off 6 inches of 1/2″ wooden dowel without bracing it and the jigsaw cut right through it without splitting the end. Admittedly, that’s not a heavy use but it made a clean cut in light material without splintering it. That’s finesse!

  9. Busy Executive

I had a 1960’s era jigsaw that I inherited from my father, and it finally decided to quit. I figured if my next tool lasts even half this long, it’s something I’m going to have a really long time, so picking a high-quality product I can live with over the long haul seemed sensible, and I turned to Bosch. I have several Bosch tools, and all are first-rate – this jigsaw is no different. The construction of this unit is pretty awesome. It’s a bit larger close up than it looks in the picture, but at about 10 pounds, it’s just the right size to handle well. I like that there are very few sharp edges on the tool, and everything just fits my smallish hands nicely. I also like that the tool-free blade design lets you get the right blade for the job with minimal fuss. The strong and solid footplate keeps the tool where you want it and is easy to adjust if you need to make bevel cuts. The jigsaw is variable speed, and there are various blade orbital settings to give you great control over the cut. The dial at the back of the jigsaw lets you set the upper limit speed, and then as you press the trigger, it goes from zero to whatever limit speed you’ve set. The motor is both powerful and low in vibration, and this is a big help in cutting through even thick and dense hardwoods. With the right blade, I find that the jigsaw just motors right through whatever I need to cut while leaving a nice smooth finish.I have the Bosch add-on circle cutting attachment…in my opinion, it should be included with the jigsaw. It works well and with the power of this jigsaw, it’s pretty easy to cut nice smooth circles in most woods.Only two small complaints. One is that while there’s a “chip blower” built into the tool, it’s not possible to connect it to a dust extraction system without buying a few extra parts from Bosch…in my view, these should have been included with the saw. Issue number two is that I sometimes wish the jigsaw came with some sort of headlight so that I could see the exact spot where the blade is contacting the work. The Festool folks have something like this – but of course, their tools are way more expensive.Overall, this is an excellent tool that’s capable of fine results and seems to be build well enough to stand up to demanding use for a very long time. It’s probably a little more expensive than some of the alternatives, but it’s definitely a case that you get what you pay for. Can’t say enough good things about this jigsaw – if you need one, this Bosch should be on your short list to check out.

I just received this saw yesterday and used it last night, AMAZING! I had a Makita that I thought worked well, there is no comparison. I’m working on a project that has duplicate pieces so I cut 2 pieces of 1/2″ plywood at the same time and it glides as it cuts the wood. The anti-splinter insert works great as well. There’s no vibration or jiggle, it just powers through. My only complaint is that it’s a bit difficult to see where your line is with the footplate and splinter attachment is on. I highly recommend this saw.
