I absolutely love this thing. I was picking up light fixtures at the store and saw the prices of drills in hardware stores and immediately skipped past, drove home and went to Amazon…so here we go:This thing is amazing! I have no experience with a drill. I’ve already replaced 2 1980s ceiling fans with modern light fixtures and picked up a socket set for a few things on my car I needed to fix. I’ve saved myself a lot of money doing just these few things myself. I decided to try doing more things around the house myself instead of wasting money on labor costs. If you’re looking to do more yourself and save some money, this is a solid Drill and Bit Set. Black and Decker have a good reputation for less expensive tools that are reliable and this is no exception. The bits are also pretty durable/strong. I stripped a brand new screw but the bit wasn’t even scratched! Also, I unboxed it as soon as I got it and changed a light fixture without charging the battery. I’m incredibly impressed!

I love this drill. It has saved me so much time on my home improvement projects (which basically means putting furniture together and drilling holes in the walls to mount things). The battery is great and honestly, I can’t say how long it lasts because it has never run out while I’ve been using it. Granted, I only use it for about an hour at most and then I stick the battery back on the charger, but it seems to hold a charge very well too since there have been times when I haven’t charged it for about a month, put the battery in the drill, and it still worked as if the battery was full. The drill bits that come with it are standard sizes although I wish the sockets came in more sizes. They are too small for most things I want to use them for. Other than that, this drill is perfect.

Nice drill! Was able to drill holes on my ceramic pots with a drill bit I bought. Well worth the price.

Surprisingly powerful. I used it to drill 3 inch deck screws into 2 inch cedar for 2 hours straight. While the unit will heat up over time, it cools down quickly. But more importantly, it is powerful enough to do that job well without any issues at all. I am totally satisfied with it. It is also more compact and lighter than the 18V Black & Decker I owned before. Yet outperforms that old 18V by a wide margin.Update: It has now been a year and this drill still performs like it did right out of the box. The battery keeps a charge for a long time too.

Okay, this drill is well worth the acclamation it currently has. I bought it with the drillbit set for about $75. I needed to drill holes through a metal beam behind my car’s bumper to screw on mounts for musical horns. At first, this little drill started to sweat. I was thinking buying this was a bad idea… but… I didn’t give up. So first off, I made sure the battery was fully charged… which by the way, takes a LONG time to do, upwards of 3-4hrs. Well, it got fully charged, and boom, huge difference. Also, you have to make sure you’re using the right drill bit… there’s three types: The multi-purpose drill (which is what you should use for metal), the masonry bit, and the carpenter’s bit (forgot the name). I switched to the appropriate drillbit, and… in a big facepalm moment, realized I had the drill spinning in the UNSCREW direction. Be careful, since it’s really easy to accidentally press down the button that switches the spin to reverse . So, now, with:1. Full battery2. Appropriate drill bit3. Making sure the spin is set to FORWARDI was able to drill a hole through 1/6″ cast iron in less than a minute. And yes, like others have mentioned, this is not a heavy duty drill, but keep in mind heavy duty drills run at the very least $150, while this one was half the price with drillbits included. In conclusion, this is a purchase I certainly do not regret making. Hooray!

For under $60, you can’t beat this kit!I would consider myself to be an “around the houser” when it comes to using tools. I’m not doing any voluntary DIY projects, but hanging pictures, fixing door handles, putting together furniture (you get the picture) is normal for me.After reading through different reviews on Amazon and watching youtube videos I decided on the Black and Decker and I’m very happy with my purchase.Pro’s- The battery life is great, I’ve never done anything where I needed to stop halfway through to charge the battery (plus you can get spares). I think another reviewer said it lasted him around 4 hours. – The torque is great. I’ve never had one problem drilling or removing screws. – Hard to explain, but I feel as if I have more control over the speed / power im putting out vs my old dewalt drill. – Relatively lightweight and ergonomically designed.Neutral – – The accessories are decent. The bits seem like cheapish steel to me, but the assortment is nice to have / I saw it as a bonus anyways.Cons – – There are no glaring cons, assuming the fact that you treat this like the starter kit it is. But It’s not the most powerful drill, isn’t the most complete kit, doesn’t come with a drill case or bag, etc.The one thing I didn’t realize was they didn’t include any allen bits, which stinks because I specifically bought the drill to put together an IKEA desk. (which I find very odd as they included Robertson bits) As a side note, I ended up getting the baker and bolt allen bits and they are incredible quality. – I highly recommend those too.All in all, this is a great drill kit for the value. I give it a 5/5.

I can’t say enough complimentary things about this drill! I purchased it when I began a long-term home renovation project two years ago and have used it extensively since then. To date, it has been used to install numerous fixtures (lights, fans, etc.), drill and assemble custom built shelves, fasten over 2,000 square feet of drywall, fasten cement board for tile floors and backer board for custom showers, and many other tasks.A few specific notes:1. The battery life is great; however, you may notice a bit of a battery drain when performing heavy duty tasks like driving self-tapping screws into backer board (which is extremely dense, so the drill has to work very hard to complete this task). Even when performing this task, I did not find myself running out of battery power in the middle of tasks. I typically charge the battery every few days, but I found myself needing to charge the battery on a nightly or semi-nightly basis (which is still not bad at all) when taxing the drill heavily. I have never needed to purchase a second battery because one charge easily lasts through a full day of consistent use.2. This drill measures up very well against other cordless drills of the same class. When people have helped me to hang drywall and backer board, their drills have not been able to accomplish the tasks as easily as this one. I have handed my drill to other people on numerous occasions so that they could drive screws the rest of the way after their cordless drills could not complete the task.3. There are some natural limitations with this drill, but that is to be expected with a cordless drill. For example, I can use this drill with large hole saw bits; however, it is significantly faster to use my 6 amp corded drill for this work. Similarly, when using a spade bit to drill through multiple 2×4 headers, it is much faster to use a more powerful drill. This drill can do the job, but it will take more time since it is simply not the right tool for that particular job.Summary: If this drill is used for the right tasks and is treated well, it will perform better than many drills that occupy higher price ranges and it will also last for a very long time. I have put this drill through its paces many times over in the last two years and it has never disappointed me.

I ordered this drill as I had some home repair projects to do. I already had a B&D Trimmer, which I really like too. So I already had a few extrabatteries for back-up. (never needed to use them).I have been pleasantly surprised at the torque power. The battery lasted over 4 hours, and was going strong when I had finished my project. This drill is not meant to build a house, but it sure is an excellent tool to have to do jobs around the house. The added bits are nice too.You won’t be disappointed.

    I. Was very sceptical at firstim a diehard dewalt person .but the price was right so I decided to take a chance and buy this black and decker drill to my surprise I put in 480 deck screws in a day and a half the first day I ran on the half charge it comes with that note I fully charged it it is so far a awesome drill and yes I would buy it again
